Newbie from Nevada

I am scheduled to have a dual-lead Mentronic (sp?) inserted this Thursday. I suffer from low heart rate and A-fib. I remain hopeful that the PM will help me feel better and eventually I can get back to exercise without paying for it in the evening. I'm nervous. What can I expect in the first few days. I work in an office and will try to go back to work in 6 days after surgery.

I am so thankful for this site.

Auto Accident

First let me say that I am going to be ok. I was rear ended while sitting in my beetle at a red light. Yes it was dark, yes my lights were on and yes, my foot was on the break. I am suffering from severe whiplash, awful pain in the head, neck and my entire back. The seat belt was on and I was the driver so the seat belt came across my pacemaker. My heart rate went crazy and I was very scared. I was taken to the hospital and I had CT scan, and some chest x-rays. No problems so far. My pacemaker...

Spotlight! Yeah!!!

Well how about that!

Just wanted to say that the spotlight this season (Fall 2008) is very interesting and written about a wonderful friend.

I would also like to encourage each and everyone of you to take time to read it. I don't think you will be disappointed. I found it insightful, inspirational and funny.

I hope you all have a wonderful day,
Pacergirl

????????

Ok, this is like my 4th post within 24 hours, but I don't care. Ok, first I would like to say that I do not appreciate the fact that on every website dedicated to congenital heart defects I've looked at do not refer to congenital heart block!!! Excuse me!? I belive that if they can put Ebstein's Anomoly (did I spell that right?) on the list, mine deserves a spot. And second, when I take my pulse, there are patches of slow beats and patches of fast beats. Is this normal?!?! It's like 2:30 A.M. so...

It is a very happy Holloween

I had my pacer friend read last week. All is well The only concern was my rate drops are still high. Over 500 per 6 month reading. But the good news is I almost never know when the rate drop kicks in and in the last 6 months never had a passout or even a dizzy spell. So I am good to go for another 6 months. No changes in programing nessecerry. The on the 29th I celebrated my 3rd. birthday with my pacer friend. My wife said she was so glad I got over the terrible 2's. But I think I will be just a...

Study--Fish Oil Can Help Arhythmias

Found this today. The study is a little old (March 08), but some of you may not have heard about it.

The study is a little small, but compelling. It looks so promising I hope they do a 1000 patient study soon. In the mean time, it appears that fish oil is good for your arrhythmias!

Hello All

I am a new PM/ICD recipient. 4 weeks on the 31st. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary except that the skin over the device always appears warm to the touch. I was glad to find the PM Club, where there are others who are experiencing the same thing. I'm amazed to read the messages and hear what others are experiencing, Later.

Another newbie!

After a whirl wind month, I received a dual chamber rate responsive pacemaker last week. It seemed to happen so fast and now I'm not sure what to expect for recovery.

The last few years have been crazy...at age 45 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug. 06, went through bilateral mastectomy and 6 months of chemo.

Now, this pacemaker. I have learned alot about cancer but don't know about pacemakers. I feel better but still have episodes of lightheadedness and fatigue...

Answers Finally!

Hello! I am happy to report that my doctor's appointment yesterday went well. After 2 failed sinus node modifications and an ablation for a SNRT, my doctor has decided that a complete sinus node ablation is the only thing left to do. We have exhausted all meds to control my tachy and he feels that this will take care of it once and for all.
I am a little apprehensive about having my sinus node totally wiped out and being 100% dependant on my pacemaker. I know that there are several of you o...
