I've posted previously on difficulties with anxiety (I had thought that a panic attack may have been responsible for an episode of arrythmia I suffered). Now I believe there were several factors at work, but I cannot get rid of the anxiety that it can happen any time. I have been having extreme anxiety every time I leave the house---especially alone---which is immensely inconvenient. I am a very independent person (I love to see movies by myself, spend a lot of time walking alone, etc.) and I ca...

Hi all,
Back in october I posted that I was having my pacemaker leads and box changed due to a fracture in the lead. Well it's now january and I'm only getting back to my computer now after all the complications I've had.
After my surgery I had two new leads and a new pacemaker box inserted. The old lead had pulled out a bit but they had to leave most of it still inside. About two weeks later I noticed I was breathless when walking so I went back to the doctors about it. I...

Hi Everyone,
I really need some help here. I went to the dentist this past week for the first time in 5 years. I have had my pm for 15 years and I have always taken amoxicillian prior to a dental visit. I saw a new dentist and he seemed to think this was unnecessary. He kind of gave me a hard time about it and now I'm confused. I noticed my cardiologist did lower the amount this time, but she also did call in the prescription. The dentist wants me to call the cardiologist before...

I just found this article and posting from 2005 and wondered if there has been any more recent data to support or refute the data on airport security metal detectors?

I know there have been many questions on whether Airport metal detectors are safe for pacemakers. I found this article published in Journal Watch Cardiology.

I had a pm put in in Feb. 2007. It seems to have shifted or else its my imagination. It also seems to stick out on the corner especially when I move my arm just right. Now i have a little sack of fluid underneath my arm about 2 in. wide and about 4in. long. I just had physical and Dr. says dont worry. I think the pacer is pushing on my underarm muscle for I can feel it irritating there. I am fully endowed on top and the left one is forever pullng onthe area. Can they ever move these thing...

I posted the other day about my current problems and got a lovely response from a member. But I only got one response. Please read my post again and if you can give me any help, encouragement, etc. please do so.
I have felt really bad all week and just can't seem to get my strength back. Is is gone forever or what. I went up north to visit over the holidays and it was way too much for me. I just can't seem to bounce back. Not that I am expecting to go roller skating or anythin...

Im new here and just wanted to introduce myself. Im a 33 yo Marine that was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome. I had an ICD implanted in Feb of 07. I found this site while doing some research for myself and have been on it for a few hours reading. Its comforting to know that other people have had the same question, concerns and things that I have had. Most of the time I feel like Im on my own. Its been a long year adjusting to this. I have always been very active and involved in the outdoors....

I passed out again today! I am so frustrated! I was doing so well...for the last 6 weeks - since my pacemaker was implanted, I have had hardly any problems...but now, it seems like everything is going down hill. I was having a hard enough time coping with the fact that I have a PM at 23, but now I am having all these issues, and I am having to continuously seek help from my EP. Don't get me wrong, she is an amazing doctor, and I love her, but I know that I must be driving her crazy! I have an ap...

Hi my name is Debbie I have posted before. I have a ICD implanted in April 2007. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Long Q T Syndrome. I just got my results from genetic testing yesterday, they found genetic mutation that has the potential to cause a familial arrhythmia-causing syndrome.(LQT1). I am still processing it all and not sure how to feel about it. I have 3 children that will be getting tested. My son is 17 and I have daughters 5 and 8 years old. Anyone else go through this testing ?...

Hi. Around 7 yrs. ago I was diagnosed with AVNRT and had to have ablation done to correct arrithmias (sp?) that were crippling. The ablation went wrong so I was left with complete heart block and a pacemaker. Don't get me wrong, my pacemaker is my BEST friend! It's just, now when I thought of these fast heartbeats were gone, here they come again. The EP said that he didn't know why it was showing it's ugly head now. He said that if it gets any worse that he will put me on meds to try and contro...

Hi, I am new to the forum, I am 45 and had my pm for 5 years. Has anyone experienced a racing heart while driving? I guess it was like a panic attack and I it took a little while to calm down. Do you think I just need my pm adjusted? I have a checkup this week.

Hi Guys, well, been waiting 2 months, and I'm 21 hours away (can't stop clock watching) until I receive my first dual chamber PM for 3rd degree AV block at 29 years of age. Just wanted to thank all that have shared their experiences over the past few weeks with me, it really does help in giving you a base of information to move forward. Of course, as a human being with young children I am naturally terrified still but know exactly what is happening and why, which certainly out ways the operation...

What an experience! I could not walk the treadmill because I have injured my right leg falling down some steps. The first day, Monday, they had me scheduled for a dobutamine test. A few minutes into the test, the nurse and I were just conversing about a few things, and I mentioned I had an ascending thoracic anerurysm at 5.0. She went pale, and went for the doctor. Apparently, a person with an aneurysm is not supposed to have a dobutamine stress test. SO, they stopped it and told me to come back...

I am having a my pacemaker changed next week and I was wondering how long I need to wait before I can use a hot tub. I planned a surprise vacation for my husband, and I paid more for a room with a balcolny and hot tub. I hope I didn't waste my money. Does anyone remember what their Dr's reccomendations were?
Thanks for you help!
