Pacemaker Popped...?

Hello,

I am new here. I had my pacemaker implanted in Aug. This morning I swear I heard it make a pop like sound. It seems like it is tilted now and one side feels closer to the skin.

Has anyone heard or had a similar situation?

Thank you,
CJ

I'm happy to see our club is growing in compassion and concerns for others. I thank you all for your postings and your words of comfort when I need them.

I have a request to ask of you whom may have gone through a triple bypass surgery. My aunt is line up to have the surgery sometime in January. She's a bit concern and her anxiety is through the roof. My cousin whom I love like a brother is also having a hard time with the whole surgery thing. I'm asking anyone who have good or...

Question

Hi There,

Yesterday I found out I needed to get a pacemaker.
I couldn't believe it, I cried my eyes out. I'm a 24 year old women and I couldn't believe how scared I am. In my case I have vasovagal syncope. So I pass out, I've probably passed out about 200 times in my life time. I need to make a choice, should I get one or shouldn't I. All doctors say yes, mom and dad are a go. But I don't know.

How painful is it, not the surgury but in general just to have. I've...

encouragement

I have had a dual chamber pm for three weeks now. (dislodged wire several days after implantation which was repaired in addition).
Anyhow, it is encouraging to hear about the emotional edge many people have also experienced after getting the pm. That alone helps with the anxiety I have experienced, really, for the first time in my life - I am 59, and this all happened very suddenly. I have been in very good health beforehand, active, asymptomatic!!. No medical history to speak of. One que...

Sicko

Okay, club members. Question for you. Have any of you seen Michael Moore's movie, Sicko? I am not asking because I want to start some big political debate or get people going at each other--I just want to start a conversation. (If you don't know about this movie, it speaks about the dysfunctional healthcare system in the US compared to universal healthcare systems elsewhere in the world.) I, for one, believe this is a people issue and not a democrat-republican, liberal-conservative, or wha...

I've been thinking...

For years now I've been perplexed and frustrated at the confusion there seems to be concerning what exactly a pacemaker will and will not do. I think, generally, all of us were made aware of our issues concerning heart rhythms either by an abnormal EKG, symptoms, or episodes of passing out, ect. Most of us have no expert knowledge of our sometimes surprising diagnosis', and we listen with a kind of numbness to the news that we need a pacemaker or an ICD. I know I truly was under the impression...

I don’t know what to do!

I have a Medtronic KDR701 Pacemaker for Vasovagal Syncope (on tilt table my heart stopped for 2.5 minutes). I had it implanted when I was 21 (7.5 years ago) and have had little to no problems to date except for the general discomfort of it. This week I have experienced shocks through my shoulder and have gone to get a check up. The doctor told me I have a faulty lead but that I don’t need the ventricular lead really so he simply reduced the voltage so as it wouldn’t shock me as much and told me...

Update and thanks for the great feedback!

Back on 10/26, I introduced my current situation and myself. I want to thank everyone for his or her comforting words, encouragement, and advice. Thanks so much for the messages. I agree with Frank’s posting. Anything could have caused this...viruses, etc. Also, my concern with a pacemaker could be masking the real cause.

I want to share this with everyone. Might be a remote possibility that you or somone you know had a terrible experience with medications that resulted in a PM...

PM/ICD Problems

What a great site...wish I ahd found it years ago. I had an ICD implanted in 2002 and a little over a year later the impedence dropped drammatically. They told me that they were watching a possible lead problem but all was well. A yeaar later I went to a differant clinic to have the ICD checked and the tech flipped out and wanted me to stay in the hospital until he could get the company tech there. The company tech checked it and said "all is well". Six months later the unit failed when my heart...

chopping firewood

I won't see my cardiologist for over a month so I am hoping to glean some wisdom from this august bunch. Now that winter is gripping the northern climes - I was hoping to split some firewood. Do you think the vibrations from the impact of chopping would have an effect on leads? My PM was implanted two months ago and I don't even know its there anymore (maybe not always such a good thing, huh?)

PM revision 26th Nov

Hi all, Monday I had my PM changed for a new one, with one new lead also being added (the lower chamber lead) The old lead was left in situ as the Doc said because it had been there for 11 years the risk of damage to the heart was to great it was best to leave it.
Whilst the Operation wasn't the nicest of experiences ( the sedative given via the drip didn't seem to have any effect at all ) Any pain or discomfort felt was bearable. Since having it done I feel 100% better, in fact the moment...

First Time Here - Question

I was really glad to find this site. I thought there has to be something like this out there. I have a couple of questions but first some of my story- the short version. I have a Medtronic pacemaker model ADDR put in on December 18, 2006 and I am feeling much better. I had spent the previous 18 months knowing something was wrong and doing a doctor route that only added to my fatigue. Why was this so hard to diagnose? I was diagnosed on December 11th with heart block 3. My heart was not just sl...
