33 year old, 2 months post implant, and my EP doc can't believe the results. He says he's going to use me as his Pacemaker Poster Child, because everyone always thinks that pacemakers are so awful. I guess he considers me as a living example that they are not. I'm glad he thinks of me that way. Hee, hee.
I could not have achieved this "poster child" status without the help and support of this site.
My doctor is also admiring his handiwork as my scar is only 1 inch long. I told him that...

Hi everyone! I have a quick question. Since receiving your pm has anyone experienced high blood pressure? My BP was always low 94/64 ish, since pm its running 160/89 up to 183/98. I started exercising about 1 1/2 months ago, walking 1-2 miles and doing various workouts on the gym machines. I don't take any prescription meds. However i do take calcium w/d, B complex and estroven. Any insight would be appreciated. I have a drs appt Oct 7 with the pm tech so i'm keeping a log to show him. Th...

Hi Pacer Chicks and Guys.... Just keeping in touch... I am in Denver Colorado now... it has been a beautiful late afternoon flying... the sun should just be going down as we leave for San Francisco in about an hour. I have developed a pain in my neck and would love to have a nice massage, but I don't see any big strong guys around.... darn the luck!
Getting searched proved to be quiet the experience. I am quite used to it, but when they get to the tushie.... I always laugh out loud as I am...

Hey guys, it's me again. Ok, I have a few things for this post. First of all, I love the nickname ladies with pacers have... PACER CHICKS! I like to think of myself as one. :) Second, I heard that when you sneeze, all your bodily functions stop. Then I thought that if this was true, then ICDs may go off. THEN I thought that it was only like a spit second so maybe not. Last, I was thinking that Dick Cheney should join and be put on the Famous Member forum. LOL! K, that's enough rambling for now.....

After having a few days of feeling a bit...... eryukkk! I decided to go into chat last night.... normally I am the one who warbles the song.... " All by myself - dont wanna be All by myself... la la la " you know the song - Celine had a go at bashing it out a few years back! (I can't sing a note - hence the empty chat room!!).
Anyway I was thrilled to chat with the Usual Suspects plus a new girlie Alice G - who was feeling a bit nervous about going to the hospital today - we had a...

Hello! I am a Firefighter who just got a pacemaker and my cardiologist wanted me to see if he could contact any other Firefighters out there who have pacemakers and have been cleared for full duty. He is trying to get support in showing that other firefighters out there have had pacemakers and are back to work, unfortunatly he does not know of any other firefighters other than I. All he wants to know if what kind of pacemaker you have and he wants to hear from you that you are back to work for f...

Is that at word???? he he.... Here's my problem.... I seem to be either stressed about my flight today or I am loosing the plot as Peter.N likes to say.
Here is what happened....
I have always been so very careful with a beautiful bracelet that my sister gave to me a few years ago. I always return it to it's resting place when I am not wearing it. Today, as I am packing for my trip to Calif. to see my 2 brothers and 2 sisters I can't find the bracelet! It is not where I thou...

Hi all, yes it is the forgetful one. he he....
I have to agree with many of the previous comments about everyone reacting differently about depression. Many personality types can handle the problems of life in a positive way. I myself usually can stay pretty positive. BUT there have been times in my life when I reached such a level of despair that I could hardly get out of bed without some loving inspiration from my loved ones.
So as I like to say....As the Beatles used t...

Okay, I gotta spill my guts....I'm feeling blue and really really low. What's with that? Must be the weather? My pacemaker is working well, I don't feel it at all, so it can't be that as I haven't had problems with it for like 2 years now.
No new meds. Family life perfect. But recently diagnosed with Colitis and have lost 38 pounds. I am now 117 pounds which is considered underweight as I'm 5 feet 6.5 inches tall...so perhaps thats whats getting me down. I dunno. Just thought...

Hi everyone, here I go again researching stuff. I found this article very interesting and informative, hope you do too.

BBB is a condition in which there's a delay or obstruction along the pathway that electrical impulses travel to make your heart beat.
Injury or damage to the heart muscle or blockage of a blood vessel in your heart can slow or block the electrical impulses that make your heart beat. Even though interference with the i...

Did anybody w/PM feel like their heart stopped and then received like a shock and it started back up again? Let me explain. Last night my chest muscle started to twitch and it lasted for about 3 hours but only happened when I was sitting. (HR drops below 60 when I sit--PM set at 60) I was reading and I, well I think I spaced out a little, it felt like my heart stopped and then all of a sudden I felt a shock and I jumped. The twitching stopped and things have been fine since. I called the d...

Just come back from hols. No trouble with flight, great. Palps behaved and felt good.
One question please, has anyone experienced a weird sensation whilst dozing. Suddenly waking with a gasp, as though you cannot breath. Doesn't last long, but scarey. Any ideas please. Has happened couple of times
ACTUALLY believe it or not making friends with pacemaker.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
