Hi folks
I saw the surgoen yesterday and he wants to operate on my foot. I am really nervous about the anaesthetic with a pacemaker. I am waiting for an appt to see the anaesthetist who will assess me. I have a dual lead pacemaker which was given to me because I had sick sinus syndrom with third degree av block. Before my pm. each time I had surgery I would feel as if my whole system went down a notch and it was harder to recover due to extreme tirednes. Any comment would be a h...

Hi Everyone.
Im going to try my best to keep up the tradition that was started a couple of years ago, to post Greetings to
member(s) on his/her/their Birhtday.
To do that, I need to update the existing list. If anyone wants to add their name, user name, birth date, ( noyear necessary, unless you want to, ) please feel free to do so, I will add it to the list.
Here is what I have so far.

HI:
I've never joined an on-line support group, before. I received a
pacemaker a week ago. Though, I didn't want it, suprisingly
I can now breath. I live alone, so I've afraid of doing something
"wrong". I don't have a real good medical back up right now.
What are peoples experiences about eating, too? I've also
diabetic. Do people find any foods beneficial & helpful in the
care of their pacemaker?
I live behind Mass. Gerneral. Is there...

Just thought I would like to post this again as I think it would help quite a few folks who might not have seen it before:
I do quite a bit of studying on the chemical workings and nutritional needs of the heart and body and just thought this info might be helpful to some. This is taken from a book titled "Reverse Heart Desease Now" written by a "new cardiologist" named Dr. Stephen T. Sinatra:
"Every cardiologist should be interested in the following benefits of fish oil:

Hello, I am a new entrant to the club having implanted a V V I R pacemaker just 10 days back. I welcome the advice of older & experienced members.
Out of curiosity, I would like to know which side of the chest is best suited for my kind of device. My doctor insisted it on my right side & implanted there. Though it has little significance for me now, I am just curious to know.

Hello everyone! I haven't posted in quite sometime. I was wondering if anyone has an Electrophysiology Study since receiving their pacers? I have had 5 EP studies but they were all before my pacer. They said that they can do the study through the pacer. I have been having frequent PVC's and short runs of v-tach per my pacer and been passing out. 2 1/2 weeks ago I passed out while driving. They said they will still sedate me and put an IV in. My question is, is it still as painful as the going th...

I finally met with another cardiologist. He said that he feels that if the medicine is not helping my only option to feel better at this point is a PM. I am scheduled for surgery next week and now my nerves are running on high octane. I am excited to feel better finally and have my energy back and I am also optimistic the surgery will go smoothly but still nervous

i am a police officer and just had a PM placed 3 weeks ago. I now have low blood pressure that makes me light headed and dizzy sometimes and my vision sometimes gets a little blurry. My doctor said they can only blunt my symptoms but they will never really go away. I am unsure if I will be able to return to work. I am just windering if any other police officers have a PM and how it affects their job?

Well I am nearly four months after my PM. Energy slightly elevated but keep getting lightheaded also and this is very hard to explain, a feeling as though my head has a huge pressure, it only lasts seconds, but is worrying me slightly.
The lightheadedness is daily, I am on no medication, any suggestions please? Don't really want to try and explain this one in french to the doctor, could be there a very long time.
Thanks Jules
About to take the plunge!

I am 78 years old and have been slowly recuperating from congestive heart failure in 2004. My cardiologist says I am now a candidate for a pacemaker - since my heart condition has improved considerably, but the rate fluctuates to as low 30 bpm at times. The procedure is scheduled for 5/16. Anyone have any suggestions or words of encouragement? Don

When I got my pm it was just accepted in my family and those around me. Unfortunately when I fel so ill it just fell on deaf ears and I went though a very personal lonely time. My doc ignored the symptoms I was presenting with and it was all sorted out one morning in emergency. After that I changed my doc. I had been going to him for about 6 months when he asked me the question: "What is it like to have a pacemaker?" I was taken aback as no one had asked me. I could have hugged him. Is t...

Just a message for general information, and to ask whether anybody else has learnt of this.
A friend recently opurchased a new set of Hatton scales. They give your accurate weight and give a lot of other details, which are obtained by electric impulse.
They have a warning on them not to be used by persons with PM's

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
