Pacemaker moving??

I have been having some slight and somewhat irritable pain in my underarm. I keep feeling like I need to lift my arm up a little to relieve it and sometimes put my hand under there to relieve it. Does anyone know what this is or is it anything to worry about? I go to my cardio next month. Do you think I need to request an x-ray to see what is going on? This is my second pacemaker. I never had any problems with my first one. I have a dual chamber but at the time can't remember the brand, sorry.

Pacemaker Questions

Hi! Have a couple of questions about my new pacemaker and wonder if anyone has similar issues, etc. I am in cardiac rehab as also had a heart attack and two stents. I had to have the pacemaker cause after the atack, heart rate kept dropping to 30. Now, my heart rate is going to 130 at rehab. It has been considerably hhigher since I got the pacemaker than before. Has anyone had this trouble and do you know what they do to correct it? I don't go to cardiologist till July 22nd although they...

Staph infection in pacemaker pocket

I posted about a month ago. My son's (22 months old) buldge ended up being a staph infection. Which resulted in extraction of the pacemaker and then a week later the wires, which required open chest to get out. He was in the hospital for almost two weeks. And is home now with a PICC line to get iv antibiotics.

Other than that, he is absoulutly fine. He has never had a fevor or any pain from having an infection. Staph was found in the pocket and in his mediastinum (sp?). He'll...

High elevations?

I'm going on a trip, and will be in elevations up to 7,000 feet (l live at sea level). Will I have any pacemaker problems or heart problems? I'm doing pretty well, but sometimes get what I call a hard heart-beating at night, and it's always associated with high blood pressure. During day, blood pressure is always quite low (100/60 up to 118/78). Just didn't want to worry about going into high elevations . . . any thoughts?

Shocks from light switch

my mother has a pacemaker, she received a bad jolt from her lightswitch, causing her to pass out, fall, and lay on the floor part of the night. We changed that switch, but tonight she told me she got another shock. Her housekeeper and our family have never been shocked by this switch. Could it be her pacemaker causing this.

an update

Hey y'all,
I posted a couple of months ago about swelling and congestion in my left arm. Since then, I finally had a venogram done and a new blockage in my subclavien vein ballooned twice and stented. I am glad another "venoplasty" has given me relief, although this was by far the most painful surgery I've had yet! The Dr. decided to go through a vein in my arm, and I wanted to scream through most of the procedure! They gave me a small amount of versid, which I'm totally immune to. They do...

My constant battle

I am constanly trying to prove I am not a hypochondriac to my cardiologist. I have had a pacemaker but for the last year and a half I have had a constant pain surrounding my medtronic kappa 901 pacemaker. I have a tight pain and shooting pains in my left arm and in my left back side. I don't know what to do, because my cardio just says it is in my head and that it isn't "normal" to have pains like this. I often start to have a constriction in my chest and and I get really dizzy from it. Can you...

Strange feelings

I'm a little over a year with my Medronics pacemaker for bradycardia. It's been fabulous once you get over the initial anxiety issues but recently I have been having strange experiences.
They only happen in the evening while trying to get to sleep and only when laying on one side ot the other. They give me an internal feeling like I'm flushing and feeling like I took a fast elevator ride down but they are inside of my chest area, no pain, no other sensations. They start in small spurts and...

People These Days...

Hey guys, what's up? Alright, so I was reading about hackers trying to get inside our little high tech friends for our social security numbers, and I just thought, 'wow, we just haven't put up with enough so now people are going to make it worse.' For crying out loud, let's just see how much more suffering we have to go through.
But people don't care now a days, they are just so inconsiderate (not everyone, there are some halfway decent people out there :)). I told my mom about it and said...

Anyone had fluid around the pacemaker?

My 21 month old son has inflamed tissue and fluid around his pacemaker. He has had it in since he was 2 months old. Although at 5 months it was moved to it's current location on his right side.

Has anyone had fluid around their pacemaker? Do you know what it was caused from? Was it infected? I don't believe his is infected because he hasn't had a fever or anything. Everything is fine, except he looks like he swallowed an orange whole!

I'd like to have more informa...

Abnormal Heart Sound

Hello! I just got a pacemaker implanted June 10, 2008 and all went well with the surgery. I am a 24 year old female in otherwise good health, with a dual-chamber Medtronic pacemaker implanted for extended periods of asystole occurring during episodes of vasovagal syncope.

I was just wondering if anyone with a dual-chamber pacemaker has experienced any abnormal heart sounds that have not been explained with testing (chest X-ray, echo, EKG, lab work, etc). I had all of this done and not...

Pacemaker bulging out!

My son is 21 months. He has had his pacemaker since he was 2 months. At 5 months it was moved from his left side to his right to make room for a g-tube.

I noticed this winter that it was bulging out. But, now it is WAY out there. It looks like he has a tangerine under the skin. It has changed. I called this morning and now we have an appointment with a surgeon tomorrow afternoon. It doesn't seem to bother him. But it is really soft?

What do you think? And do y...

symptoms??

I am wondering what are the signs or symptoms of an atrial lead dislodging? I have been raising my arm too early after surgery--about 4-5 weeks and just recently (8 weeks post-OP)
I am having pain in my atrium. Could I have dislodged a lead?
Does anybody know the signs/symptoms?
Thanks-
Lexi

Digoxin

PM implanted 01/08. I take Digixin, among other medicines. I've had rapid, painful heartbeats. Last month, Walgreens sent a letter saying there was possibly a problem with the Digoxin. Some batches were double strength. There's no way to know if I had a bad batch or not. After wearing a Holter monitor, my doctor says I need a stronger medicine, Sotalol, to control my rapid beats. He doesn't think there a link between the Digoxin and the rapid beats. Does this mean the PM is not working? Any idea...

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
