Pain

I had my pacer in May 2018 for sick sinus syndrome, and a cardiac loop monitor removed. I have developed keloids and tremendous pain like a match being struck on chest , can’t sleep welll for discomfort and it is very painful. MD says it’s nerves regenerating but it’s been six months and I want to know has anyone had this and how long did it take to go away. It burns stings and feels like a match being struck. I can’t touch it without it sending shock waves through che...

Headache

I have a question, I am 4 1/2 weeks out from having my pacemaker surgery. I have intermediate AV node block. Since my two weeks check up, and adjustments to my Settings I experience being lightheaded and headaches every evening, seems like after I exert myself a little as far as taking a shower, doing small household chores, walking to the mailbox. Is anyone else experiencing this or has experienced lightheadedness and headaches every night. Thank you

Thumping

I'm not sure if it's a 'complication' but I continue to have a four count 'thumping' especially at night in the area of my left upper rib cage. I mentioned it at my last check up and they turned off the night time testing thing and said that should take care of it. It didn't so wondering if anyone else has that going on and if they know what it is?

Have gotten used to the night time flutters. :X

Thank you for reading.

Lead replacement after heart failure

My father had a pacemaker put in two months ago with two leads going to the right side of his heart. During the last two months, he had been feeling tired and weak to the point he could barely walk so we took him to the ER. We called the device clinic and they said everything looked fine on their end.

After running tests in the hospital, they told us he was in heart failure and that the pacemaker's leads only going to right side of the heart was the problem. He's scheduled to ha...

Power tools with magnets

I need to use a hand sander on a floor. I've been told not to be around any tools with magnets, since having a pacer? My little book that came with my device is packed up,  as I'm moving or I could look it up. Anyone have any kind of info to help.....

Increased Heart Rate

I had a pacemaker implanted 6/2018 along with an AV ablation. Everything went good and my hear rate was set to 80 BPM. During a follow-up check-up my HR was lowered to 70 BMP. After a few weeks I noticed that my HR was increasing gradually back to 80 BMP and was becoming more variable. A check with the EP indicated that the PM was fine but pacing less than 95%. THe EP explain that my heart healed the scar tissue from the AV ablation and I was getting electrical conduction from the Atrium whic...

Another bump on the road

So, I had my AV node ablation on 22 October, and if I didn't exactly skip out of the hospital I walked out and up a long hill I would never have contemplated the day before.

The next two days I walked between 2km and 3km each day, did various outstanding chores around the house and garden, and admired my matchstick legs...

And then I woke up breathless, with elevated blood pressure and swollen legs again, and got progressively more so until the Monday just gone I had a convers...

Not sure what’s causing this

Anyone else suffer from bouts of feeling like your heart is racing, maybe for about 15 seconds, everyday around the same time? It usually happens for me between 1230-130AM. I only notice it if I’m awake. I’ve had my PM for 8 months and had my settings adjusted recently in hopes that it would help with this, although this has been happening since I got the PM and before setting changes. Just curious to see if I’m the only one dealing with this.

Av node ablation

I’m scheduled again tomorrow. Couldn’t do it last Friday because I had a tia that day!! Seem to have come out of it quickly and reschedule for tomorrow. Don’t like having Togo on blood thinner again. Didn’t break anything when I passed out but have bruised shoulder and rib. Be so glad when I don’t have to worry about Brady or tachycardia again.

Stinging feeling middle of chest and near ribs

My pacemaker is just over 3 weeks old. Incision healing well. I went for follow up and cardiologist released me to drive and I return in 4 months. Trying to keep arm below shoulder for two more weeks. . A package was delivered yesterday and when I lifted it; I realized it was probably too heavy and put it down immediately and pushed it into the house. My incision felt the tug. Last night I noticed a stinging type of pain in side near ribs then noticed same stinging later in center of che...

Still getting pre-syncope feeling

I'm 39 and since having my dual chamber pm implanted on July 27th after 5 fainting episodes starting from May I'm still having the same odd pre-syncope feelings that I got every time I fainted prior to the op. They occur in a similar time frame to my fainting episodes, roughly 4-weekly, so I'm assuming that whatever was happening to me is still happening but the pm is stopping me from fainting. I've seen a couple of posts on here from people who have had a very similar experie...

Exertion problems and fatigue

Hi - very glad to find this site and just joined up.

had my first pacemaker implanted 12 years ago for SSS and a replacement in January 2017. After my second pacemaker was implanted I felt better but not as good as with the previous one. I just thought it was because I was older and had become quite unfit.

I have been riding my bike and walking a lot and taking the stairs in the last few months to improve fitness. For the last 4 to 6 months I’ve experienced light headed ness...

1 year post-op discomfort

Hi all,

I am currently on my 5th pacemaker and have had this one a little over a year. During surgery, my surgeon decided to go subpectoral and it looks good however I have been in pain every single day since surgery which was June of last year. In June of this year (2018), I got an x ray done to confirm that my rib had been pulled out of place during surgery--hence why I was still having unexplainable pain. We looked back at x-rays post surgery to confirm. Since we weren&...

Postural Hypotension? Tapping?

I have a Medtronics dual chamber rate responsive, 3rd degree block (complete), also have CHF after valve replacement with complications. Placed 2 yrs ago, last few weeks I am having dizzy spells when standing or active and have had syncope twice near syncope within a few minutes of standing almost every time.  I was exercising a lot and slowed down a few months ago, so I did ask her to turn sensitivity up however, that should help not make it worse.  Sent in two transmissions s...

Magnet Proximity Alarm

I've had various Medtronics devices since 2006. This is #5. I am 100% pacer dependent.

Recently the magnet proximity alarm has been going off. Nowhere near any magnet, large or small, no recorded incidents, etc.

Medtronics says it can only be a magnet, usually within 6 inches, that is sounding the alarm. None of the scenarios suggested apply - no new phone or electronics, not dressed (so no zippers or metals), and not even holding something when it happens.  Pacer cl...

Contraindications

How "seriously" does one take any contraindication to any procedure?  Is the contraindication written in stone, and if violated, one is doomed? My reason for asking: I have the guys issue of BPH - I can't last more than 1.5 hours at night without a banos stop. Previous urologist proposed the "Prolieve" system to shrink the prostate. Previous urologist also poo-pooed these contraindications regarding use of the Prolieve system: "Presence of  implante...

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
