Holster

Tomorrow I am going to be set up with the 24 hour holster. Boy, in the last few years, the equipment has really gotten smaller. The first one I had was about the size of a regular cordless phone hand set, and impossible to hide/disguise.

Moving the PM?

As a woman with a PM, I am having trouble keeping the PM from showing with many clothing necklines (especially with the hotter weather). I know that PM's can be placed elsewhere besides on the chest. Mine is so near the center, and I am on the small side.
Can a PM be moved over nearer the shoulder, or put in another place when the battery is changed?
I wish that my Doctor had asked me where I wanted it placed. Do Doctors take into consideration the gender of the patient when pla...

To remember is to live...

haha...this always makes me smile...my mom always says "To remember is to live" ...and its so true. Remembering happy times in our lives and laughing about things in the past...that is the way to live! Sometimes i sit with my brother and remember the times when we were way younger kids getting into trouble and we laugh about the silly things we did. It almost makes me wish i was a kid again...but also makes me smile and want to really live life. To remember is to live. Remember the good times. R...

Pacing

On recent visit to Doctor, he mentioned I was pacing 75% of the time. Does that mean my pacemaker is working 75 % of the time and my heart is working 25% of the time.

You've got to be kidding...

Hi all! Happy Memorial Day! So I had my pacemaker put in March 19th and since then have made nothing but bigger issues then I had before. Pre-pacer I would get dizzy and pass out monthly, nightly I'd feel a bit of a flutter, and occasionally I'd have blurry vision. Now I have all of those more often along with chest pain, feeling like my heart is beating out of control, and sudden naseua. So after multiple visits to my cardiologist, multiple ER trips, and countless pacemaker check ups they decid...

Pacemaker check-ups

Hi there everyone
I am again going for my pm check up tomorrow. Does anyone else have a fainting feeling when having pm checked. I mentioned it to my technician and he cant understand why I get these feelings but nothing is done about it.
I dont quite understand what happens when being calibrated in (now had a pm for over 22 years) and still dont understand.
It is as though they slow heart rate down really low and I feel faint as if I dont have a pm, then I feel ok again.

pacemaker too sensitive? help...

I have a question that I asked my doctor at the hospital after my first night with the pm which was three weeks ago. I didn't really get an answer and it is still bothering me.
My heart rate will drop and pacemaker will send a volt and then heart rate jumps up to 80 or 90. Then it will work it's way back down and pacemaker will send a volt and heart jumps up again like it got shocked almost. This goes on and on for hours somketimes. It is very distracting. The doctor said that it was my he...

SNOTTY RECEPTIONIST

An older gentleman had an appointment to see the urologist who shared offices with several other doctors. The waiting room was filled with patients.

As he approached the receptionist's desk, he noticed that the receptionist was a large unfriendly woman who looked like a Sumo wrestler.

He gave her his name.

In a very loud voice, the receptionist said, "YES, I HAVE YOUR...

High rate pacing - I'm confused

Before my 4th ablation, my heart rate would rise on it's own during exercise and my natural sinus node would take over for the entire duration of increased activity.
My pacemaker was used rarely and only in times when my heart rate was low. I had mostly high rate rhythms but occasional low rates as well- mostly due to beta blockers.
Now after my 5th ablation, I'm paced the majority of the time in my right atrium and I don't take any heart rhythm medications.
I've had SO many ablat...

Oxygen Therapy

I have a dual chamber pacemaker I received in Nov. 2008. I was diagnosed with complete heart block after a sleep study. Two weeks ago my family physician said that my sleep study showed that my oxygen level was dropping into the 60's when I slept. I asked to do another study because I was hoping that the pacemake had fixed this. I did a home test on Tuesday and my doctor has ordered oxygen for me to use while I sleep. I feel like my life is slipping away and I am unable to stop it. Does any...
