Anything to worry about?

As you know I went for a check up a while back and my consultant said he want sto do a CT scan.
I got a copy of the letter that he sent to my GP and got a bit of a shock. He did an echo and in the letter he said:
"Repeat echocardiography showed good LV function. There was no significant right heart dilation. There was very mild tricuspid regurgitation and so I was unable to measure RV pressure. I could see flow in the vena cava from the supra-sternal view. This appeared mildly tur...

Skipped beats

Hello - 35 year old male that was diagnosed with Wolff Parkinson White last February. Catheter ablation corrected the issue, but the following November I had another non-WPW SVT arise. Need for pacemaker implant after my most recent ablation attempt this March to correct that SVT.

The question, is it normal to experience a "skipped beat" with a pacer, especially in the evening? The rhythm that develops is "beat-beat-beat-pause-pace-beat-beat etc".

Also, I am still experi...

I joined the club

I received my PM last friday. I passed out early in the morning and went to the ER because I had hit my head when I passed out and I needed a few stitches. I was shocked when they told me I was having a heart problem! I have been exercising and eating right since October 2008 and have lost 50 pounds with about 20 more to go- although I am pretty happy were I am. I recently started run/walking, within the last 2 weeks before my diagnoses, because I want to run in a 5k race in September. After bei...

.ICD movement

Hi,
I'm new however I have lurked a few times. My Medtronic ICD was implanted 3/10/09 after I was diagnosed with CHF. I had a lot of complications from lung puncture and was rushed by ambulance back to the hospital after just two hours at home. I got air under my skin so bad that my cardiologist said I looked like a giant inflated blueberry and my friends told me I had no neck after being zapped 3 times by the ICD. If you touched me I sounded like rice crispies. Needless to say, I was not a...

Heart monitoring device implant

Hi there good buddies
My son who has a leaking heart valve and ??? having a replacement, is having a monitor implanted next week to monitor his heart rate. He has been told that this is very similar to having a pm implanted. I cannot see the logic of this being done, he may as well as a 24hr heart monitor for the same reason.

Can anyone enlighten me as to this procedure. We live in England by the way. If we lived in the U.S.A. I would of thought it was one of those where hosp...

severe palpitations

I am only able to run about 1/4 mile....my progress is going very slow. It's frustrating me to know end.

Anyways, running is fine, other than tiring quickly, but afterwards, my neck veins pound HORRIBLY, and it feels like my head's gonna pop off.

Ya'll think this has something to do with my rate response?

Also I asked my doc if we could turn my pacer off at my next interrogation so we can see what my rhythm is. He shrugged against it and said, "I wouldn't do anyt...

my first check-up!

I had my first pm check-up today and I think it went fairly well. I got a lot of my questions answered and they lowered the voltage and reduced my rr feature. Hopefully this will help. The question I have is during the check-up I could see the computer screen and it had 1 alert flashing. The rep clicked on it and it said "high venticular beat detected". I did not get to ask about it because she quickly clicked it off and we were talking about something else. Does anyone know what that means? I a...

Tired After Implant

I had a dual chamber pacemaker implant about 3 weeks ago. I am walking 2 miles per day, but this is making me so tired that I go home to sleep soundly for atleast 1-2 hours. My pacing is set at 70bpm. Prepacing, my rate went down to the 30s. I am determined to get better and back in shape. I have only walked 5 times - 1 per day.

Are Leads "Model Device Specific"

I will discuss the below with my doctor at my next visit, however, I wanted to get some feedback from the site prior thereto.

I have a dual lead Medtronic pacemaker that will be "up for replacement" in the next couple of years. In researching other manufacturer's models and what they have to offer, a thought occurred to me regarding leads.

Generally, when pacers are replaced it is my understanding that (if the leads are still good), they unplug the old from the leads and...

Did I get zapped?

I had an experience Friday night that I want to get others input on. About 9:30 I was sitting at my computer when I had a feeling come over me that really scared me. Everything slowly became dark and I had that rushing sound in my ears. My whole body felt limp. I think I recall my heart speeding up but at the same time I felt like life was sliding right out of my body. I literally thought I might be dying but couldn't do anything about it. I couldn't shout to my husband who was in the basement....

Spam warning

I've been receiving a lot of "junk mail" in my internet email junk mail box that I felt I should share with ya'll as well. It just started yesterday.
This is what the email looks like:

donotreply@pacemakerclub.com
in the subject line it states " a comment has been made on your pacemaker club post"

I marked it as safe, then it immediately turned into spam asking me to "pick out my new 3G iPhone".

Just wanted to make ya'll aware of this. These spammers s...
