Hi Everyone.

Harley63 and I will be meeting for the first time ever in just a few weeks....June 4th. I am over the moon with excitement and a bit nervous too. Not only will I get to meet her but I'll be visiting with my twin sister at the same time. What could be better than that???

I hope everyone on this site is as lucky as I have been with meeting so many wonderful and supportive people.

shocks

I had a pacemaker put in on th 8th of May. I had bad pain at the site for two days this past weekend. I also had some shocks that scared me. I felt like somebody was tapping me for about 20-25 seconds. It seemed like forever. I lifted my shirt up and you could see my chest pumping? Any one else have this sensation. It happened 3 times today.

QOTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is going down PacemakerClub? Ok, well the March of Dimes was fun and I would do it all over again, but I almost passed out multiple times. That is what I get for taking the long route... :) My best friend Grace Jeschke (a non - pacer) is sitting beside me at the moment, quote, "Being very entertained by all of this..." No that was not the QOTW: I have a better one (donated by Grace, who has given me many of her interesting quotes).

"I'm a little tea pot, short and stout; here is...

A walk in Manhattan

O.k. everyone, I go the go ahead to post this. I was wondering if anyone wanted to rev up their pacemakers and go on a walk in Manhattan on a Sunday. There is no charge, we will be just doing this to get some exercise. Would anyone in the N.Y. City area be interested?

Minimum PM setting

Hi:

I have noticed lately that I'm tiring more easily, and seem to have some of the symptoms from before I had my PM. It seems like even walking from one end of my buidling at work to the other is a major effort.

I went to see my cardio and they did an echo and adenosine stress test and all was ok....however the last few days my pulse is staying at 60, which is the low end setting for my PM.

Could that indicate that I need to see my EP for programming my PM? Even...

If some other people around the world want to post up and volenteer to be the contact for your area then we can start organizing. For anyone in my area that wants to attend just shoot me a private message with any ideas you have and I will get a list of people who want to attend.

Sorin

Does anyone else have a Sorin PM? I looked at people's profiles and they all seem to be either Medtronic or St Jude's. I've got a Sorin Reply DR, is there any real difference? Just a random question, not at all important, but just wondered.

Thanks,
Emma

sleeping on side

I am wondering how long one must wait before sleeping on the side of the pacemaker - mine is only 18 days old and I am still rather worried about harming it. Thanks for your input - Di

Depressed.

I am a 43 year old female and just had my second pacemaker/defib implanted (first one was 2007) because the first one "migrated" to under my arm. This one was implanted under the muscle. I am about 3 weeks out from the surgery but I am still in substantial pain. Taking tylenol but getting somewhat depressed that I'm not feeling stronger yet. I am supposed to return to work next week and am worried I'm going back too soon. Any thoughts?

sharp heart pain

Okay, I am about 7 weeks post implant and over the last couple of days I have started having sharp pains in my heart at seemingly random times. I felt a PVC earlier today and I go into a-fib for at least a few minutes every day now. I haven't caught my heart going to slow, just this sharp stabbing pain right in my heart. After this long, could one of the leads be pushing further into my heart or something? Any ideas anyone?

thank-you,
Michael

Another 5K

I did another 5K this weekend. This time with my 18 year old daughter. My time continues to improve -- I finished this 5K in 29:14 (9:25/mile), which is way beyond what I ever thought I could do when I started this whole running thing last year.

My daughter, who hasn't been exactly motivated to do much training of late, finished in 37:45. She did track her freshman and sophomore years in high school, but hasn't kept up with it. I am hoping that she feels sufficiently embarrassed bei...

newbie

I just had my dual lead St. Jude pm implanted 10 days ago after three and a half years of taking theophylline which very poorly managed my arythmia ( the day before my proceedure, I nearly passed out with a heart rate of 38, and was rushed to the e.d. where my ekg showed 2nd and 3rd degree block). I'm normally a very active mom--I work full time, have three kids, and do cardio and weight traning at the gym. My p.m. right now is set at 60, and I still feel pretty fatigued( I'm taking it easy and...

MRI s

Has anyone had an MRI after having their pacemaker implanted? I had heard there was no "safe" way one coudl be performed on us, however my Oncologist wants me to have a brain MRI. Worried about the possibility of some issue he has ordered a CT and PET for tomorrow. In the mean time, he is contacting my Cardio to see if there is a safe way to perform an MRI.
Thanks for any comments or suggestions, Jean
