How long did you wait after getting your CRT pacemaker to travel by car to another country as in 7 hours drive for a few days holiday and then drive back again home?

Hi
I am wriitng in desperation now, my wife had a pacemaker fitted in November 2006, she is 30 years old and we have been trying to get life insurance for her but every insurance company we have tried continues to turn us down on medical grounds. We live in England, my wife has had no problems with her pacemaker and she is physically fit and well. I'm 23 and have been diagnosed with Neurocardiogenic I ended up passing out and found out that it was heart rate driven, not b/p drop that did it. They got me taching into the 150s and then within 2 seconds I dropped junctional into the 30s 40s and acclerated junctional and finally back into sinus rhythm. So, theyve started meds which really isn't...

I am currently seeking a second opinion. I have an appointment with another EP in my area, but it is not scheduled until the end of October. I am desperate at this point.
My husband and I are considering a trip to the Cleveland Heart Clinic. We are in Texas, so it will be a big step to take, but I have come to realize that we must be our own advocates when it comes to our health, and I need answers!
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to where I may seek treatment? I am open to...

Hi. I've got a post running in the exercise section but have another question.
I make my own wine and beer and it's a big passion of mine. I started making wine when we were sailing for 2 years down the Pacific side of Mexico and Central America. When we came back to "landlubbing" I began working more with high quality wine kits and making my own beer. Joined a brew club here in York, PA, and absolutely love the history, process, and experimentation with all the variations. I c...

Quick re-cap: I have had my pacemaker for about 9 months. I was diagnosed with IST about 6 months ago. I have had 2 sinus node modifications. Still struggling with tachycardia.
I went to see my Dr. yesterday to discuss whether or not a final sinus node ablation would be the next step in my treatment. I had a sinus node modification about 3 months ago, and she wanted to give my heart plenty of time to heal, so she decided to wait until now to discuss this option.
Our last discus...

I'm confused, but my teenage brain tends to get that way... :) Anyway, mom finally called my regular doctor and they told her to call my PC. She said she's not going to right now because it's not like she can drive me there right now (it's 2.5 hours away). I don't think they'd ask us to come in right away, so I asked her to just call and see what's going on, but I got the typical "I'm the mom and I know best" attitude when I NEED it!! Grrrrr. Oh yeah, I read pacemakerkid's message about her pap...

Haven't posted for some time so thought I had better say Hi to all. We are still at Bellbrae on the Victrorian coast. We have two weeks to go then we move on to another place along the sea front. After that we go out to a farm for two weeks to keep an eye on a dog, four chooks, (chickens) and forty goats. We are finding being a Mr and Mrs mobile Noah really fun.
We have met and made so many nice friends. When it does come out that I have a pacemaker no one believes it!! For me t...

Don’t know if this is a real problem, but interference with pacemakers is at least theoretically possible. There now seems to be a fix.

I'm new at this internet stuff, so I hope I'm using this site right. Thankyou everyone for your great ideas and education. I've got a long way to go understanding what's just happened to me. I know being able to put it to words will help the medical people understand any changes and in turn help me too. As far as this financial mess goes, it looks like we'll get a home equity loan, (we've done this before and are all paid off now). We own our home. Less stress to just pay them all off. Bu...

I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there that has a huge hospital bill with no insurance. PM put in unexpectedly 4 wks ago. No insurance, haven't seen a Dr in years, didn't need to. Now the bill's around 27,000. We were told by many, many people, including hospital staff, that the hospital "would work with us" and "we could pay what we could afford as long as we made regular paymts. This is not the case. The only way they will accept paymts directly is if we paid the entire bill off...

Holy Mackerel....what a smart idea.
Interventional cardiologist Ali Massumi, MD was the first physician in the U.S. to replace a pacemaker enclosed in a mesh envelope. The envelope, made of standard surgical mesh, is embedded with two antibiotic agents that provide site-specific antibiotic protection for the pacemaker, which is implanted just below the collarbone. This prevents the need for systemic antibiotics (taken orally). The device is made by TyRx Pharma, Inc., which recently re...

The Bad News Fairy has visited me again and I'm not coping well at all.
It's almost a year since I got sick, thought it was done with and moving forward, happily.
Had a bad bout of pain, thought it was gallstones but it's a growth in my Common Bile duct.
Doesn't seem to be malignant but won't know til it's out.....
I will be having a big, nasty surgery shortly, followed by another 2 or 3 months of recovery...surgeon says 2, GP says 3+ !!

Hi everyone:
Want to thank you all for your support, am so glad that I found this group. Hope everyone is having a good day.
Now my question about, low-sodium foods. I have a hard time finding anything with low sodium. I did find some soup by campbells, some broth, but that is all that i could find, Anyone else have this problem, or in your area there is a health food store. Curious what everyone else is using?

I would like to know if there is any law or provision made that alows people with a PM not to have to wear a seat belt. It lays on my PM and irritates me.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
