I just had my first pacemaker implanted last week. I am taking Verapamil and Sotalol. I have developed a cough with lots of phlegm. I am wondering if anyone else experienced this or if I may have just picked up some type of chest cold while at the hospital. I am going to my primary care physician tomorrow to get checked but I am a little concerned.

Hi Everyone
Its me again the pest, lol, I think we in England are catching up with the rest of the world at last. My son had his reveal monitor about 8 months ago and all of a sudden he is being given another monitor to attach to his telephone line so any problems he can send information from his monitor to casualty department at our local hospital.
I have read about this on numberous occasions on the u.s.a. sites but not known it here in england.
I hope that this is a good thin...

My daughter was going through my sewing stuff and asked what I was going to do with all my old shoulder pads. She suggested that I could use them to pad my incision area.
How did she get so smart?! Cheap fix... Thought I'd share

Just thought I'd let you all know so you wouldn't think something happened to me. I'll be leaving in the morning and back Saturday nite. I may have wireless at the hotel, but last time it was iffy.
I'm having some eye floaters zapped again to clean things up a bit. No big deal.

How about we all donate our old pacemakers to a Pacemaker Farm" where they would be hooked together to send the rest of their battery life into the power grid. Just think how much energy a few million pacers could generate. LOL

Hi everybody,
I am a French woman and was so happy to find this site on PM where we can share our "daily issues".
My first message, I am afraid, will be quite long ... but be sure I will be shorther on my next messages :-).
I had my PM implant on Jan 28th, 2010 as my heart was stopping 15 times withn 24 hours for more than 3 seconds. So that's for sure the PM is saving my life. The only problem was I was still passing out even with my PM... without loosing con...

It's weird how if you have a painful area or lets say... a cut; even if you never did before you always catch it! I mean I just sneezed now and my chin butted by pacemaker - I never did it before! It's a bit like if you have an injection and your arm is particularly sore and everyone pokes it or bashes it unintentionally!
I'm dying to go on the dodgems too! It was the first thing I wanted to do after having my pacemaker fitted even though I didn't care before! It must be because I'm...

Today when I got to work, I logged in as usual, but after about 45 minutes, POOF! No internet, not network access. Bummer. Days should not start out like that!! So, Like a good little drone, I called and put in a help desk ticket. (You got to know I work in IS! LOL) While waiting, I went to get me a nice cup of Hot tea to calm my rising anger. (The help desk is right next door!!!!) Got my tea, but noticed that there was water all over the counter. The coffee maker is leaking! Of course...

Is this the PM?
Before installing the PM/ICD device, I would sit down on the couch and would feel just fluttering feeling, and a light headedness that would not go away.
At work, I had those feelings and I woke up to go get a glass of water, and fainted.
Today for the first time, I was sitting down and had those feelings, but it was very brief, and immediately felt better. I am wondering if anyone is feeling the same with devices. Doctor told me that I have Afib and the pacer part of the...

Hi all
I went to our local Pacemaker clinic at our hospital today and had my 11 day old pacemaker interogated. They told me all was perfect with my pacemaker and that it had paced 0% since implant. I know that is a good thing but is that very common with a pacemaker implant? Just curious. Thanks and all the best to each of you.

Hi Everyone.
Had my neck surgery this past Thursday and am doing quite well all things considered. Today was my first day I could actually eat anything solid...and most of you know what I went for first -----> M&M peanuts!!!!!! of course.
I am not in a lot of pain but rather very very uncomfortable and I have a headache that would knock your eye out. But I'm surviving. I'm taking each day at a time. Today was a little rough as it was my first day home alone and of cours...

i have had a pace maker since 2007...was told by a chiropractor friend that with this in my body..that my heart will not do what it is programmed to do naturally. If it is removed in 10 years or so, the heart muscle will not do the job it is designed to do. Any thoughts on this?

My son will graduate from highschool next year. While in Georgia we have the Hope scholarship, I was wondering if anyone out there knew of some that were avaliable for children with pacemakers? My oldest daughter got different scholarships and she only had to pay for one class when she was in college. She lived at home but still had to work for different things. Which I think is a good thing. She is very responsible.

Hi Everyone,
First off I would like to thank everyone who sent me a message on my last post. I am very touched. I'm still here and battling a new problem. I have pneumonia and a blood infection they think might have been caused by one of my lines. I'm trying to sta upbeat and positive, but it is getting really hard. I'm tired all the time and feeling very weak, they say it's from the infection.
They did the skin graft on my leg on Friday and I got sick on Saturday, they originally tho...

Besides the pain I expected to have after my implant on 3/9/2010 (which I expected because I also deal with RA & Fibromyalgia and figured I would wind up having more than the normal amount of pain after surgery than most) I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with numbness and tingling sensations in their arms and hands after their implants, especially after laying down for even just a short period of time?

I have had my pm for about a year and a half now, and am wondering if anyone else has had the problem I continue to have. My pacemaker site becomes red, warm, itchy, burning, and I get stabbing pains. This has happened several times since implantation. It took four surgeries to to get the leads in place and working without diaphram pacing, and after the fourth time, I did have a serious infection. After five days hospitalization and a month of IV antibiotics (I had a pic line at home) the inf...

Am learning to use site, posted message in chat then saw it was wrong timing.
Since Def. installation 12/29/09, even after 5 wk restriction time, I cannot lift my left arm above my shoulder nor pull it backwards without extreme pain. Some other movements start the pain also. The pain in the "balljoint" feels like a nail being driven into it and the pain between the shoulder and elbow feels like the insides are being twisted, burning and pain.
The Dr. pushed very, very hard to get the...
