Technical Problem

I have just returned from work to find a nice package at my front door. As I gaze in wonderment at the surprise delivery I was thinking, it isn't my birthday, it isn't Mother's Day, so what could this be.

Upon closer inspection I read the return address label. St. Jude Medical. Uhmmmmm I thought and proceeded into the house. I carefully opened the very nice shaped brown package. Inside was another box and I removed it and opened it as well. I placed the mystery gift on the kitchen c...

Glandular Fever and Pacemakers?

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has had (or been close to) someone who has had Glandular Fever whilst you have had a pm?

I've never had it, however my colleague (who is also a close friend) shares an office with me and she has just spent the week in hospital. She was finally diagnosed with the virus today after her lymph glands and spleen swelled and blood test came back positive. Another girl at work has also just been tested and is awaiting results. As it's c...

Hi friends out there with PM/ICD; Just need to share with you about drugs side effects and wonder any of you could enlighten me as to what's going on inside my body.
Had 5 shocks from my ICD in Jan and nothing was the same since. Firstly Dr had added on one more drug Digoxin to my existing antiarrhythmic agent, propafenone. Then a host of changes like new on board is crestor and plavix. A lot has happened thereafter, no end to gastrointestinal problems like belching and stomach discomfort P...

Tingling Sensation

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a tingling/stitch sensation around the heart area. I had my PM fitted 2 years ago and haven't had any problems at all till 3 days ago when I started to experience these. They aren't constant or servere, I'm not suffering any ill effects and my PM is still a constant 60 BPM.

I'm quiet active and run about 15 miles a week but I'm a bit wary of attempting this while I'm experiencing these sensations. I would go to my PM clinc...

Pacemaker mediated tachycardia

Hi,

I have had pacemaker problems since the end of November when they discovered a lead had moved. The voltage was turned up and the EP said it was fine. Unfortunatley since then I have been anything but fine.
I have congenital heart disease and a right systemic ventricle, I have developed symptoms of heart failure- breathlessness, fluid retention, exhaustion, difficulty lying down and a dilated ventricle, not to mention the tacycardia, feeling faint and chest pressure. Thankfull...

Let us all give positive thoughts for Pookie

Hi folks

Our great friend Pookie is undergoing surgery on 25th March (I think I have it right) It is her birthday the next day.

Let us all hope that Pooks is at last starting on the up hill climb to resolving all her problems. I have been a member of this site of nearly six years and I have always been concerned about how much Pooks has suffered and the awful problems she has had to contend with.

Cheers from down under

New to the Club

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the Pacemaker Club. I am 55 years old and received my pacemaker 11/19/09 after being diagnosed with bradycardia. I do not know my "official" diagnosis, i.e. sick sinus, etc. I just know I was fine most of the time but began experiencing palps with passing out beginning in February 09. After many trips to the ER and my physician, who told me everything looked fine, my boss finally put me in touch with his cardiologist after an episode here at work, and aft...

Unusual Pain

I have been aching and having some shooting pain around my collarbone and shoulder (left side). My pacemaker is located on my right side. Has anyone gone thru this before. I don't know what is causing it or if I should be concerned. I thought at first that I might have arthritis, because I'm having lower back and leg pain also. Anyway, I would appreciate any insight into this. Thanks.

Electromagnets

I read that people with pacemaker should stay away from the Hoover Dam. The dam uses huge electromagnets to generate the power from the Colorado River. Anybody been there with a pacemaker?????

3/23 2009, one year ago...

my heart stopped during an ablation to correct SVT's. I had an ablation one year earlier to correct my WPW, but another accessory pathway presented itself and caused recurrent SVT.

After getting jump started by the paddles and three days in the hospital with a temporary pacemaker inserted through my neck, my EP thought that the anomaly had corrected itself and I went home. One day later I was back in the hospital with a diagnosis of 3rd degree heart block after feeling tremendous pa...

getting better

I've recently begun to realize that I am actually starting to "feel" better. The only problem with this is that I am still banned from driving, and probably will be until November. Don't get me wrong, from a safety standpoint I get it, I understand...it just doesn't make it any easier. I'm not married, and having to rely on others for this basic necessity has gotten more than just a little bit annoying, I feel like I have to justify everything that I ask to do, and I have to "ask" to do everyth...

I've had my icd for almost 4 years and thank God, it has never gone off. But me and my doc disagree about me being on a beta blocker. I don't want to be on it, but he says it prevents the icd from going off. Anyways, my only concern is driving. Has anyone ever had their icd go off while they were driving?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!

Highest setting at 150 bpm?

Hi again All. I'm not allowed to exercise yet, but in two weeks I'll be ready to go back to the gym according to my doctor. My concern is my EP told me that the highest setting on my pm was 150 bpm. If it goes over 150 it will automatically drop to 70 bpm. Did I hear him right? That's a pretty big drop don't you think? What will happen if I hit 150 while on the treadmill or any other exercise? Will I pass out? Will I get dizzy? I was scared to push myself BEFORE my pm because of my slow...
