curious

i have had a pace maker since 2007...was told by a chiropractor friend that with this in my body..that my heart will not do what it is programmed to do naturally. If it is removed in 10 years or so, the heart muscle will not do the job it is designed to do. Any thoughts on this?

Scholarships

My son will graduate from highschool next year. While in Georgia we have the Hope scholarship, I was wondering if anyone out there knew of some that were avaliable for children with pacemakers? My oldest daughter got different scholarships and she only had to pay for one class when she was in college. She lived at home but still had to work for different things. Which I think is a good thing. She is very responsible.

Coping

Hi Everyone,
First off I would like to thank everyone who sent me a message on my last post. I am very touched. I'm still here and battling a new problem. I have pneumonia and a blood infection they think might have been caused by one of my lines. I'm trying to sta upbeat and positive, but it is getting really hard. I'm tired all the time and feeling very weak, they say it's from the infection.
They did the skin graft on my leg on Friday and I got sick on Saturday, they originally tho...

infections?

I have had my pm for about a year and a half now, and am wondering if anyone else has had the problem I continue to have. My pacemaker site becomes red, warm, itchy, burning, and I get stabbing pains. This has happened several times since implantation. It took four surgeries to to get the leads in place and working without diaphram pacing, and after the fourth time, I did have a serious infection. After five days hospitalization and a month of IV antibiotics (I had a pic line at home) the inf...

numbness in arms & hands

Besides the pain I expected to have after my implant on 3/9/2010 (which I expected because I also deal with RA & Fibromyalgia and figured I would wind up having more than the normal amount of pain after surgery than most) I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with numbness and tingling sensations in their arms and hands after their implants, especially after laying down for even just a short period of time?

Arm Pain

Am learning to use site, posted message in chat then saw it was wrong timing.
Since Def. installation 12/29/09, even after 5 wk restriction time, I cannot lift my left arm above my shoulder nor pull it backwards without extreme pain. Some other movements start the pain also. The pain in the "balljoint" feels like a nail being driven into it and the pain between the shoulder and elbow feels like the insides are being twisted, burning and pain.
The Dr. pushed very, very hard to get the...

Question for the experienced exercisers

I am almost 5 weeks post M for 3rd degree heartblock. I know my PM settings are 50-130.

I have been exercising daily and today pushed it a little bit on the recumbent bike. For the past week I have been working at about 65 %-70% of my target heart rate (100-115) for 1 hour and barely break out in a sweat.

Today I primarily worked out at 70%THR and then pushed it to 75% (125) for a few minutes. What I noticed was that my heart rate began to drop down to 100, so I pedaled har...

Information Needed

I am trying to get some information on Cervical Vertigo. If anyone knows a good website that I can look at, the information would be very appreciated.

Since I do have fibromyalgia, my physicians are tyring to figure out the cause of my lightheadiness/dizziness which they think is coming from my neck stiffness and pain. Both internist and cardio specialist are almost certain it is not pacemaker related.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. For those who are Jewish, have a...

A little advice please...

I've had my pacemaker for nearly 3 months now, the only thing is I can feel it all the time. If I move my arm close to my chest it feels really uncomfortable. It creeps me out a lot too - having a hard patch under my skin. I was just wondering how long it actually feels uncomfortable for before you get used to it. Any advice or experiences are much appritiated!

What is happenning?

Hello all
I woke up this morning feeling not to bad. By breakfast I was feeling lightheaded and dizzy. My wife got me over to ER where I had an awful time. Hyperventilating, crying, shaking and tinkling down both arms. They gave me an adavan and did some blood gases along with xray and blood tests. Later I started to feel okay and they sent me home. Very scary and hope this does not happen again. Any ideas as to what was happening??

Hope all of you are having a good weekend.

Confused! Surgery is in 4 days!

I have been having some health issues for about 2 years now. It started dizziness, short of breath, passing out, heart rate dropping. My hemoglobin was 5.1, so a year and a half ago I received blood transfusions. I felt a little better, but still had troubles. My cardiologist has been there through all of this. She has ran holter monitors, 30 day monitors, tilt tests, eeg's, ekg's, etc. I have been taking 15 pills a day to regulate everything. Finally, in December I did the tilt test and...

REV. CHUCK, WHAT'S UP!

Hey I am partially back. Sorry about the misspelled nonsensicle posting I did earlier. I hope this one is a lot better. I am alive and things are going much better today. I am still having problems with blood level. Back on the lovenox shots and warfarin. Not much pain, thankfully for pain pills. I hate to take them but sometimes you have to. I hope everyone is well and I will get to the postings to see what I can do to help out or keep the communication going.

accelerated junctional rhythm

I have a CRT device for heart failure. Lately I have been in and out of an accelerated junctional rhythm and have symptoms of dizzyness, blurred vision, and I can't walk far at all during these episodes. I know the accelerated junctional rhythm causes AV dysynchrony and that is probably whats going on with me.I have read that new devices are coming out, or are out, that have the capability to recognize and treat an accelerated junctional rhythm. Anyone have one of these new devices?

Queen of Sheba

I am very happy to announce that my sweet dear hubby of 39 years has come through once again and saved the day. I think of my hubby as the Super Hero in my life... well most of the time anyway. He has really come around and tries so hard to make me happy.

He has re-wired the phone system, installed the jacks, set up "Merlin" for me and has me now on-line. I am official. He had me rest on the bed as he did all this. That's right, all I did was lay on the bed looking much like the Quee...
