Hi there,
Just wondered if anyone who is 100 per cent paced with chronotropic incompetence ( heart rate that doesn't rise on its own) has had an anaesthetic without any complications.
I get a bit concerned when I have been in hospital for tests which are normally carried out under general anaesthetic I get told that they will not give me a general and a local must be done instead.
The explanation that has been given to me is that the doctors would not know if I am b...

Hello everyone! I have been lurking around this board for a while now, at least since my implantation of a Guidant dual chamber pacemaker in late April 2008. I have had minimal problems, but the usual 'annoyances' of how the device is situated and how the leads were placed. These usually just include discomfort and swelling. My question for you all is if you would be willing to participate in a survey about your current device and your opinion on the new leadless devices that they are curren...

This will be my final message. The Pacemaker Club doesn't need me and I will say the same for the Pacemaker Club
It seems I posted something today about the Obamacare bill that was passed last night that didn't pass muster. I didn't think it was anything derogatory. It was the address for a film clip I found on Youtube. So far as I know it did not cause any rude exchanges. Don't see how it could have since it was visible for only a few hours.
Some enterprising sou...

Hi
Just wanted to say it is one week today since I got my new best friend, "Mr. Pacemaker". All is going fairly well but want to get back to doing some yard work and a few light housekeeping duties indoors. Is one week too early to start? Thanks again for the support and information you nice people provide.

hello
I thought I'd post an updated for my 3rd year anniversary since I got my pm. At the time I was so overcome with panic and anxiety I was afraid I'd die(my medical situation was mild really, bradycardia).
Since then I have been able to run 2 half marathons, walk 4 more, run one full and paddles a canoe across Missouri in 3 days.
I'm figuring out my pm is a gift, not a curse.
this website was a gift from heaven. thanks to all who post and encourage.

Yipee! I made it one month. What a ride!
I have felt so many different emotions in this 1st month.
Shock- being told I had 2nd degree heart block that would surely get worse & could even turn to 3rd degree heart block...being told I needed a pacemaker. Those were both very hard for me. I was in denial for a bit...I went as far as to convince myself I really didn't need it. I could live without it. The doctor's could be wrong...maybe it wouldn't get worse.
Fear-...

You helped me on my previous post about rib pain when taking deep breaths. Is this called Precordial Catch Syndrome (PCS) - the most common cause of recurring chest pain. It is also sometimes known as a stitch in the side or Texidors twinge. The site said that posture may be a contributing factor and yes, sitting in front of the computer has been compromising my good posture.
Frank, how did you get so smart? Big bear hug to you!!

Months before the pacemaker went in and even 4 weeks afterwards, I have had problems sleeping through the night. I am not on any meds and refuse to take anything for sleeplessness. My one friend told me to drink a warm glass of milk before bedtime so last night I had a warm glass of milk about 2 hours before I went to bed.
Well, I had the best night's sleep in I don't know how long! Why didn't I ever know about this simple remedy ....
Anyone else have any simple remedies...

I had my pacemaker implanted under my left breast tissue, much like how they would implant when doing a breast augmentation. I have had problems finding bras to fit, and when I wear underwires, I end up quite sore. I am 8 weeks post op, and otherwise am feeling quite good.
The other issue I have had is finding a jog bra. When I run it feels really uncomfortable. Has any one else had this problem?
Thank so much for all your help!
Kristin

I have been here a short while, but I have noticed many read the posts, but very few comment. It would be nice to hear from more diverse group of people to share experiences and even offer some words of wisdom and additional support. The regular posters on here are great and I feel a great emotional connection with them.
So you invisible people, emerge out of your lurkdom and let us know how you feel and what you feel! We promise not to bite.

Hi Everyone.
Just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm going in for surgery on my head/neck for my Eagles Syndrome this Thursday, March 25th. This is what has caused me unbelieveable chronic pain for the past 13 years and I'm hoping for the best outcome even tho the success rate is only 50/50...but I gotta try it !!!
I will be kept 1 - 2 nights for observation as the incision will be very close to my carotid artery and the swelling could (emphasis on could) interfere with my...

Got another 60 or so miles in yesterday on the bike (2 days after what was a small blizzard here in Colorado, gotta love the weather out here). Finding I am beginning to plateau so it is time to start shifting my training a little to add more strength and core muscle building to just my aerobic riding.
Strange thoughts entering...

my mind. I was all ready to golf this morning. I practiced yesterday and all was fine. I thought about playing 18 holes. I had no one to play with this morning so I would just go it alone. I've done this before the Pacer. This morning was different. A terrible dream last night-In short I was picked up with my mom by 2 murderers, 2 dead people in the back seat. I carry so I took care of both of the guys...gun control, yeah right! Anyway I thought 18 may be a bit much the first time so I figured 9...

Hello friends!
My PM went in the 23rd of February, it has been almost 4 weeks. When I went in for my initial interrogation at 2 weeks they said they would be lowering the voltage from 5 down to 2 at my 6 week appointment. When they did the interrogation and made the PM work I felt it quite strongly. I had been feeling it since it was implanted & was relieved that it was the PM working, not something to be concerned about. I have been told I will get used to it. I'm not. It is heavy &...

Hell-so glad I found this website! Right now I`m scared of what is going on! I had a Medtronic pacemaker implanted in November 2007 and have had no problems. Then over the weekend I became extremely muscle sore and fatigued-thought it was my arthritis acting up! Then it felt like my pacemaker shifted between my torso and shoulder making that area sore. Well, it`s gotten worse so I called my cardiologist. The surgeon who put it in thinks I have a disconnected lead! I have to go for a checkup tomo...

I wonder if my PM has anything to do with the extreme tiredness I feel whenever I drive or go go out in the car. Yesterday I went for a drive of about three hours. I was not driving this time as my husband is now able to drive again after his surgery.
I came back totally exhaused and slept for nearly four hours. This has been happening on shorter journeys. Whenever I come home after driving I feel totally wiped out and just crawl into bed. The rate response on my pm i...
