mammogram due

I have had my pacemaker for approximately six months. I will
need to go and have a mammogram next month. Is there something I should do before going for this mammogram, or
should I wait longer. I am doing fine otherwise, atleast so far.

Pulled leads 2

Well an update here for ya'll...I went to the Doc today, just to be on the safe side, and they had the EKG..and monitors...did an Xray..all is very well. They saw the pacer marks..very very often!!! Which means my pacer is of corse working for me (when i had the PM implanted and the EP did my first check it was working @ 48% of the time) and this proved it. I kept dropping to 56-59 and the PM jumped right on in and paced me back to 60. My BP was a perfect 98/58 I was very proud to see this....

Migration and shallowness

Hi All, I've had my pacemaker for about 3 years now. Before fitting I was a very fit Firefighter and I had it fitted to cover dropped heartbeats (around 3-5 per day apparently). I found I needed because I was suffering from postural hypertension which caused me to pass out on one occasion. I had to wear a 72 hour ecg which showed the dropped heartbeats. I have continued to train rigorously and am still pretty fit.
Before it was fitted, my resting pulse was going as low as 38bpm. It is now s...

question about leads

hi all! so i'm scheduled for my 1st replacement surgery for my icd on april 12th. it's a boston scientific and since all that stuff is going on with them and the fda regarding some incomplete documentation, i may wind up getting a medtronic device instead if it's not all settled by my surgery date. my question is if i do get a medtronic would the leads have to be replaced as well or could they just use the 3 i have now?

thanks!!!! =0)

13 years

Tomorrow will be 13 years that I've had the same (1st) pacemaker. I had it put in when I was 15 years old, and for the past 3 years all of my doctors tell me is that it will need to be replaced somewhere between 1 week and 9 months. apparently that's the best estimate they can get on such an old model. So for the past 2 years I've been putting about 3 grand in my FSA account expecting to have my PM replaced. And for the past 2 years I've gone to Wal Mart towards the end of December and bough...

Hi my name is moira I had my pacemaker fitted in Dec 08 I went for my second check up on Monday and they said they think one of my leads have moved but not too worry and to come back in 6 months to check it the had to do a bit of adjustment on the pacing of it. new third lead

Well I havent posted anything for a while. been kinda busy with a newborn. I actually went into heart failure. They said it wasnt due to the pregancy. Meds didnt help get my ef back up so they had to replace my two lead pacer with a three lead pacer. I dont really know much about it or the differance. All the things that have been going on are kinda hard to keep up with. But i still dont feel any better!! I have had the change now for a lil over a month and i feel the same. I also keep noticing...

first pacemaker what to do & what not to do??????

Hi all. My name is Jessi. I am twenty and was born with 4 congenital heart defects. I just recently had my second open heart surgery *6th heart surgery all together* and during it I got a pacemaker implant. I was told its really rare to have open heart surgery and a pacemaker implantation at the same time. But thats just me. I've always been really rare. This is my first pacemaker. I'm really the only person I know with a pacemaker, except one lady who I cant always talk to. I'm finding out more...

struggling-skip if u want happy

Hmmm...today is my day for self pity. It was 3 weeks yesterday, my energy level is a bit better but what the hell does it matter? It hurts so bad today, feels like my skin is being ripped apart. I lubed it up well with Vitamin E & emu oil, that helped with the tight feeling on the surface, but every time I move my arm it feels as if my chest is going to rip open.

I wanted to go out last night, but I am sure it is a bad idea. I hate the bar scene anyway so it is really a mind boggling...

Traveling to Disney

Hello everyone,
We are going to Disney World this summer and it will be my first time having to go through airport security and all that jazz. Is there anything I should know to help make the process smoother? I was told I just show them my card that has the information about my pacer on it.

BOSTON SCIENTIFIC HALTS PRODUCTION

First let me thank "chaker, mrroerockhead, mjmellon and Blessed One" for your return comments. I will be in touch with all of you shortly. BUT..last nite I was reading a small newspaper "AM NEW YORK" and came across an article that said that Boston Scientific freezes sales on it's defibrillator line. Something to do with not advising regulators of changes in production of their top sellers.

I'm not a whiz kid on investigatory work on thi...

Training update

Yesterday I did my first big climb on my bike since my implant. Climbed Lookout Mountain outside of Golden, Colorado. 90-97% THMR most of the way (it is a steep, sustained climb of about 6 miles. Total Ride was about 30) and besides being slow did great. On pace for my ride in Colorado's Triple Bypass Ride in July. So for all of the newbies and folks out there wondering if there is life after pacemaker implants I can tell you I am working my tail off to a) get back in shape and b) prove to...

My PM has a Patch....

I got my PM on 1/25. I had my FIRST check up yesterday, March 16th. Overall a good one. I got my PM printout and will probably be asking more questions as I have time to "digest" and maybe understand it a little better. I am pacing
AS - VS 8.2%
AS-VP 0.2%
AP-VS 91.3%
AP-VP .3%
MVP On
There were lots of other numbers and stuff. The Estimated Battery is 8 years. She noted, she turned the PM "voltage?"down so it is probably closer to almost 10 years right no...

Hi guys, it's been sometimes since I've posted after the ICD shocks (5x) and then a host of other untoward happenings thereafter; As it turned out my CT scan was not that bad no blockage of arteries but indeed heart wall motion remains abnormal which dr is a bit concerned. Could either be due to almost 100% pacing for long time or due to partly the shocks that could've done some damage....Dr's not saying much. Only thing he said was to monitor and check in 6 months the Echo.
My main problem...

Update!

Hi All,
I thought it was time to give a full update. So most of you know I spent 14 days in the hospital and am finally at home recoverying. I just got my PICC Line out today and what exciting news that is for me. I hated waking up at 3:30 in the morning to give myself antibiotics what a pain. I am happy to say that my infection is finally cleared. Over 4 weeks of antibiotics and it is finally cleared my blood work came back cleared.

I take it all back!

I've just come home from my appt with the Doc for my routine PM check. He and the tech were informative, supportive, and patient. I had nothing to worry about. They did increase upper Atrium limit to 170 (from 150) so I can walk uphills better. Anyway, thanks for your input and support!

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
