In doubt

Hi everybody:This winter I've taken, as well as other checkings, a colonoscopy. It wen Ok, but they found a small (6 millimeters) polyp the doctor did not dare to remove, as I had told him not to use any electrical device on me, because of my pacemaker.
I told my cardiologist, the one who did the implant,(we live in different cities) what could be done, and he said if was question of getting another colonoscopy. The day before it, he or his assistant -(the one who checks my PM) would place...

All is well!

You were all right, everything is great! Leads are solid! The heavy feeling in my chest is my pacemaker working. Now that I know what it is it isn't scary. I just need to get used to it! The light fluttery 10-30 second racing is PVC's. I am going to quit smoking tomorrow. The number of them will most likely go down at that point. If they don't decrease & they continue to interfere we will think about beta blockers.

Here's the report:

Scar Tissue and Checkups

My pacemaker was implanted October, 2009. Where the pacemaker was implanted, the skin/tissue is now raised along
that wound. It still itches a lot and often. Is there anything that will calm the itching? Otherwise, I am fine. Also, In April, I go in for my 6 months checkup. I am going in because when I had my 2 weeks check-up, the PM was fine. The clinician said she would send me out an instrument for monitoring so I would send my report in, via the instrument, in six months. She sh...

Not wishing to grouch but could you guys in the USA try to remember that there are members here that are from across the world and that we do not all get the same level of service as you. In the UK we don't have remote monitoring, under the NHS we don't get to choose our doctors & surgeons, we don't get to talk to our doctors on a regular basis, if at all (In 2 1/2 years I have had one 10 minute appointment with my cardiologist) and more often than not only get to see a technician...

Coping, not going so well

Hi, this isn't going to be happy so if you want a happy story please go to another post. I need to vent my feelings and no one else, and quite possibly some of you, will not understand.

I just now had my first look at my new scar. It is for me, heartbreaking. It appears that my skin is actually raised up and puckered towards one side of the incision! I have had more than 9 surgeries where my skin has been cut into and I have NEVER seen such a bad closure. The incision is maybe 2.5" lo...

Scratching!!!

I have put in a couple of messages re the scratching sensation I have around my pacemaker and into my ribs. I think it must be my wording but I do not mean 'itching' I mean a rubbing abrasive sensation. I looked back at my messge record and realised I had this a few years ago as well! It is now there all the time and getting more obvious - it is driving me crazy. Docs say there is nothing wrong with pacemaker? I have fibromyalgia and there is talk that it could be inflammation around the are...

Pain

Hi all, this is my 1st post. Just had my 1st pacer replacement on 3/8/10. It still hurts quite a bit, in fact it feels like a microwave just invaded my chest. I really thought this surgery would be easier then the 1st. The nurses at the docs office make me feel like a junkie, because I would like more pain meds. Is my pain unusual, or am I just a big sissy?

Beta Blocker Users...Please Respond

How does a beta blocker actually work? I understand that it stops too much adrenaline from making your heart rate go too fast...but I guess my question is...how does it know to do that?

Is the drug idle in your body and then "comes out" so to say, to respond to the adrenaline when necessary? Like an on demand drug? Or does it live in you so to say, all the time and always at work so that your heart rate can never go up and out of control no matter what you do?

I'm on it aga...

loose lead?

I am concerned, I felt my heart drop some beats. I have had a variety of "funny" feelings since joining the world of pacers on the 23rd. (for bradycardia & a 2nd degree block) I have racing episodes that are fluttery, racing episodes that are thuddy, both of which only last 15 seconds to 2 minutes. But last night & this morning I started feeling my heart block again. The heavy in the chest & throat feeling along w/missed beats!

I go in for my 1st appointment tomorrow. Could the droppe...

ECG-New Results

Hi All,

I had an ECG done in Nov. My Dr. told me that the results now show that I MAY have a first degree A/V block. Then she tells me that they usually DO NOT implant pacemakers in a patient with a first degree block. I got my pacemaker in 8/07, and at the time was told that I had Bradycardia with a 2nd degree block. I had my implant at a civilian hospital in another state. Now, I am receiving medical at the Veteran's Administration. That is where the ECG was done. They are sending m...

Singles

Are there any singles groups for pacemaker recipients? I live in upstate New York and with having fibromyalgia and now the pacemaker I know it will make it that much more difficult to meet someone. Many men cannot deal with any medical issues, let alone one that has changed my life, fibro, not pacemaker.

Any suggestions on how to meet a sensitive and compassionate male who is willing to open his heart and life to someone on disability.

Marcia
