Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Hi All,
Has anyone had any experience with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? Is there anyway to relieve the pain? So far, I only have nerve involvement and not blood vessels, but it's very painful.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you.

We are finally off

Hi Folks

Brian and I are finally taking off tomorrow for our round Australia trip. Our first stop is in Victoria for nine weeks to look after a house, dog and sheep whilst the owners go on a trip to Canada and Ireland. We will then go on up to the Snowy Mountains to
the small town that Brian was brought up in when he first came to Australia. He will spend some time with his old school pal. There are only two of them left from their class - age catches up with us all eventual...

Well, went back to the doc and....

Well, I went back to the EP for my next checkup to see about going of Sotalol all together and swapping to a 25 mg dose of toporol XL.

I got some good news and some not bad, but not good news. I had no Vtach episodes, but apparently I had a couple of very short (1-2 sec) relatively slow afib episodes.

So, my EP wants me to stay on 80 mg/day of Sotalol and just take an aspirin everyday. He said they are so infrequent that he isn't worried, but it's not exactly what I wanted...

THANK YOU.....more questions

Thank you all for all your help. I meet with my EP tomorrow.
My HR does go up when I stand up. If I am sitting down it drops to 32-36 .Also does that when I sleep.
It does NOT Increase to a TACH unless I am jogging or any other exercise that should put your hr in a TARGET zone. BUT it INCREASES fast. And at 150-160 I feel SHORT of BREATH. I dont know if because my RESTING HR is so low?
The EP said I do NOT ABSOLUTELY have to get a PM at this time.....because I am not PASSING out.<...

the quest for a hrm

I've been through two brands in the last week. One was the wrist type. It took three or four tries to get a read while sitting still, I could not get it to read at all when I was working out. I think it was the model, not me, because the reviews on it were pretty bad.

I took it back today and traded it for a Polar P6 with a chest strap. It works fine on my husband but I can't get it to read on me at all. From browsing the old posts here, I see that I'm not the first to have this probl...

heart rate

I received my PM 06-31-2008 due to my heart pausing for 6.1 seconds. I’m a runner and my resting heart rate was between 48 to 44 bpm. Since my PM was inserted my resting heart rate is 60-62 bpm. My Dr said he would adjust it at my 1st check up. I know it will be up to my Dr on how low the PM is adjusted but I would like to know how low do the runners out there have their PM set? Thanks Thomas

Pacemaker Repositioning

Has anyone had there Pacemaker repositioned that is subcutaneous? Did you have any problems with it? Do you know if there is anyway that would prevent the pacemaker from being able to move again after its been repositioned? I'm thinking of having my pacemaker repositioned but my parents have some reservations about it . Because of not having information about what would keep the pacemaker from moving again after its been repositioned.

Check up!

To all the wonderful people here who have been so supportive of me and my questions about my pacemaker battery going low, thank you!

It seems that the extra heartbeat I am experiencing is "normal" that it is an extra long pause between heartbeats not actually skipping or missing beats. So I am relieved to say the least.

Today the dr. explained to me that the symptoms I am experiencing are not from my pacemaker. It is working perfectly. Seems the problem is with my high...

Lonely Man Buys a Pet

This guy had just had a pacemaker installed and was feeling down and lonely; and so he decided life would be more fun if he had a pet. So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet. After some discussion he finally bought a centipede, (a bug with 100 legs), which came in a little white box.

He took the box home, found a good location for it, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to the bar for a drink. So he asked the centipede in...

My heart's back...

So from the recent replies I have gotten, I think I am going to ask for an EP study with mapping to be done to see if my heart has made a new pathway. Maybe that way I will have some answers. Would it be possible to actually heal all the way so I can have my pacemaker removed? That would be the ultimate!!! Thank you for all of your help...Pacie

MRI-friendly pacemaker is being tested

By Debbie Gilbert

For people with heart problems, having an implanted cardiac pacemaker can be a lifesaver. But there’s a big disadvantage: If you need a magnetic resonance imaging test to diagnose an illness or injury, you can’t have it.
And it’s not for the reason you might think.

"Metal itself is not the problem," said Dr. Karthik Ramaswamy, a cardiac electrophysiologist with Northeast Georgia Heart Center.

My heart's back...

I recently posted a message about my heart trying to beat on its own again. I'll try to be more clear this time. In May of 2001, I was fitted for a pacemaker because of complete heart block. I had recently had an ablation done to try to correct dangerous arrythmias which was successful but my heart decided it didn't want to beat no more than 23 bpm after the procedure, so I was then fitted for a pacemaker. After all those years and 2 pacemakers later, my heart had gotten worse and wasn't beating...

What a difference!

I got my pacemaker/ICD in January 2008. A month before that I scored a 10 on my stress test, which is apparently a huge red flag that you're headed for a heart transplant. A healthy person my size should score a 28. I know a transplant is an eventual reality for me, but I sure want to put it off as long as possible (I'm only 35 and have dealt with heart issues since birth).

Well, last week I took the stress test again and scored a 14! A 40% increase in 5 months. Woohoo!!! My doct...

My constant battle

I am constanly trying to prove I am not a hypochondriac to my cardiologist. I have had a pacemaker but for the last year and a half I have had a constant pain surrounding my medtronic kappa 901 pacemaker. I have a tight pain and shooting pains in my left arm and in my left back side. I don't know what to do, because my cardio just says it is in my head and that it isn't "normal" to have pains like this. I often start to have a constriction in my chest and and I get really dizzy from it. Can you...

Celebrating Being Special

Hi there fella pacer dudes

I'm feeling a bit tired and anxious since being told I've got to go in and have my battery changed the week before last. I live in the UK so I'm lucky there - it's all free of charge. I think the tiredness is psychological, but I'm surprised I'm feeling anxious as this will be battery No.4 for me and I'm only 37. I've been given the 29th July as my op date. It's the day after my birthday, so how pants is that with the possibility of being nil-by-mouth on...
