Hi everybody:This winter I've taken, as well as other checkings, a colonoscopy. It wen Ok, but they found a small (6 millimeters) polyp the doctor did not dare to remove, as I had told him not to use any electrical device on me, because of my pacemaker.
I told my cardiologist, the one who did the implant,(we live in different cities) what could be done, and he said if was question of getting another colonoscopy. The day before it, he or his assistant -(the one who checks my PM) would place...

How does a beta blocker actually work? I understand that it stops too much adrenaline from making your heart rate go too fast...but I guess my question is...how does it know to do that?
Is the drug idle in your body and then "comes out" so to say, to respond to the adrenaline when necessary? Like an on demand drug? Or does it live in you so to say, all the time and always at work so that your heart rate can never go up and out of control no matter what you do?
I'm on it aga...

Hi All,
I had an ECG done in Nov. My Dr. told me that the results now show that I MAY have a first degree A/V block. Then she tells me that they usually DO NOT implant pacemakers in a patient with a first degree block. I got my pacemaker in 8/07, and at the time was told that I had Bradycardia with a 2nd degree block. I had my implant at a civilian hospital in another state. Now, I am receiving medical at the Veteran's Administration. That is where the ECG was done. They are sending m...

I've been getting lightheaded in the middle of the night on occasion. I would just kind of wake up, laying in bed feeling faint! I called my cardiologist and she said that it wasn't my heart or my pacemaker but more likely my blood pressure is getting too low at night. It did drop A LOT since my pm. I am on high blood pressure medicine and the lowest it's ever been while take the medicine is like 135/85. Now my bp is down to 117/85. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow to have the dose lowered...

Can anyone recommend a good medication/remedy for sinus headaches? I get them often and so far have not found anything they helps alleviate them. Any suggestions??? Is it not commended to take a decongestant with a pacemaker or is that OK?

Hey folks,
I had an email this morning informing me that the club is celebrating it's 10th Anniversary - Congratulations!
This email came at a time when I'm struggling a bit, hence the posting. I'd really appreciate your comments.
I have a St Judes pacemaker in 2007 which solved my problems of Bradycardia. However, soon afterwards, I appeared to develop angina (I'm 37 and have no corornary artery disease, the angina I have is as a result of my heart going into spasms)...

Hi
I originally had Dilated cardiomyopthy when i was 14 years old. heart was beating up to 260bpm. I had two ablations and ended up having a pacemaker fitted. Had my first one in for five years and had my second one in two years this august. Ever since being poorly i panic about literally anything. I am just wondering is it possible for anything to go wrong with my pacemaker? I keep feeling a little fluttery in the chest but when i check my pulse it seems normal. I have been to ER a f...

Well I am very disappointed today. I had my pacer interrogated very thoroughly today to try and find out why I have this "shocking" feeling. Found absolutely nothing, which I guess makes me happy to know it isnt my pacemaker but frustrated as dont know the cause of it. Anyways, if you recall I had a complete AV node ablation last June. Well up until today I had had junctional escape rhythm at a rate of 35-45 as seen when they tested my pacemaker. Well today I had absolutely squat... nada.....

Has anyone taking beta blockers during pregnancy? My cardiologist and my EP say it's OK but the drug info seems to strongly contradict that.
Both doctors say the beta blockers have "the potential" to slow a newborns heart rate after birth. Doesn't seem like a good thing to me!
Wondering if anyone has taken a particular brand/label considered safe for pregnancy? I was given the above information based on Atenolol 25.
Thank you,
Wendy

My mother-in-law called my husband this morning asking if the doctor gave me any blood thinners after the pm implant for heart block. The doctor did not give me any meds other than an antibiotic that I finished Sunday.
Did anyone need blood thinners after their procedures? My wound check appt is for next Wed 3/10. Should I ask if I should be on a blood thinner? Also, anything else I should ask the doctor at this appointment.
BTW, the appointment is with my EP, not cardiolo...

I've had my dual-lead pacer for a year. I was feeling pretty good up until last month. Now I'm back in A-Flutter. They tried a cardioversion, but that didn't work.
They put me on Multaq, which isn't doing much. I have never been off the coumadin since I got the pacer.
I am being referred back to the electrophysiologist, which bums me out a great deal because he will probably want to do another ablation. I do not look forward to another ablation.
I guess I'm just whining. I just h...

Anyone out there been told to come off the beta blocker and told to take a baby aspirin daily instead?
Your thoughts or conditions that deemed this appropriate from the doctor would be appreciated.
THANKS

I have been experiencing PVCs since August 2009.
They got as bad as one out of every three beats. I have been seeing a specialist. he said they are normal unless symtomatic. I was feeling tired and dizzy when standing up. I don't have PVCs while exercising. He recommended 2.5 ml of APO-Bisoprolol once a day. I took them for 2 months. They seamed to work at first then I started getting a PVC ever other heart beat. I was so tired I couldn't function.I stopped taking them Jan.28/10.and my ra...

I found out I had AFIB in January and was in the hospital for 5-days, then placed on a medication to control the AFIB. My biggest problem is: I cannot tell when I'm in AFIB, for I don't feel anything but chest pressure, shortness of breath, and dizziness.
I continued having these symptoms and had a PM inserted 3-weeks ago. I'm still having the symptoms even taking a medication for the AFIB and having a PM.
Reading the posts, someone mentioned a machine, which allows you...
You know you're wired when...
You have the perfect reason to show off your chest.
