Any Ideas?

Hi everyone,
I just had a check up at my cardiologist and after having my pacemaker check, the nurse who checks it asked if I've been having any symptoms. I said actually yes I am, I have been having, when laying down, periods of really slow beats, where my head gets kind of woozy and then Im ok ( I haven't have ANY heat symptoms since and ablation 10 years ago).

She nodded and when the doc came in and she explained to him and me that there was some abnormalities on the check...

Mammograms?

Ok... this is my third and last post of the day. TraceyE, I'm hoping you will have gone through this as well. I just spoke to my surgeon for the first time today on the phone. I was asking about placement. He told me he can pretty much put it any where I want. He said that he does not recommend putting the PM under the breast tissue because it can be an issue if I were to get a mammogram. Has anyone come to this predicament??

Thanks!

Recovery

My father had a pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago. He had to undergo the operation twice in one week because one of the leads fell down and they had to go back in the next day and do the operation again. The first time he was not put to sleep, but he was the second time. He is feeling disgusted because he says he doesn't feel any better and might as well not had the PM put in. What is the recovery time for this operation. He is 79 years old and he is not a very patient person. My thoughts are t...

Phrenic nerve damage

I received right phrenic nerve damage during a cryoblation last April. I'm continually getting better, but still have some SOB when I lie down. I'm wondering how much longer I have to deal with this.
Has anyone else out there experienced phrenic nerve damage?

Angelie

Medical Tourism

Has anyone had thier pacer changed by this method? If so, where, cost, and opinion on quality of care, please?

I know that my health and logevity come before costs, but we are in jeapordy of losing our home and having to make big, stressful decisions ($50K) about our future...being an honest, tax-paying member of the "middle class" sucks sometimes.

Cheers,
Mike

What about driving??

TraceyE, you are the greatest... not only do you respond so quickly but you put a lot of thought and effort into writing a detailed response. You have no idea how much better it makes me feel. One more question I thought up... and everyone can give me some input. How long was it before you can drive?? I heard a few weeks. My job is not close to home so this could be an issue for me (although it would be nice to have some forced holidays :)

irregular beat when lying on left side

Hello my pacemaker friends.
I have had a pacemaker since August of 2008 for bradycardia and sss. As far as I know I always had normal rhythm before the pacemaker, just low HR. I had ear surgery in Jan.2008 and a few days later developed irregular and/or rapid heartbeat. I'm on Toprol XL and digitek also.I have noticed the last few weeks that I have those episodes more when I lie on my left side. Sometimes I'm confused whether or not it's a fluttering that comes from my stomach or my heart.T...

Pacemaker & Blood Pressure

I am curious how Pacemaker Settings influence Blood Pressure?

I read on this forum someone discussing having High Blood pressure and that their doctor worked to adjust the PM settings and that regulated their high blood pressure.

Currently my pressure is 150/100 consistently. I am taking a low dose beta blocker and lotrel 5/10mg and my pnumbers are still high.

I am headed to the cardiologist office tomorrow morning to see what he can do.

Any suggestion...

questions..

I've had a guidant pacemaker since May of '06 with great results. A few days ago I experienced extreme chest pains, up to my throat, jaw to ears...with no relief till soon after a nitro & morphine drip was started...All test, including catherization reports negative for the heart and no answer. Pain had me to tears & sweating. I now have been told by a friend that on TV she heard a woman describe that and that it was the pacemaker going off when not called to. Has anyone experienced this?

Bracelet

Hi Rayan
Yes I do wear a necklace that has my complete info on my pacemaker and the coumadin I take and any other info that would indentify me in case my husband and I get into an accident. I dont wear it everytime I go out but i especially wear it if I am traveling or going someplace where hospitals etc. are far away. I also have info in the glove compartment and in my billfold. I am 100% dependent so the pacer is my lifeline.

Thanks, DD

St. Jude Pacemaker

Had St. Jude Pacemaker implanted about 5 months ago with 3 leads, includes defib. Somehow, it has shifted downward and needed to be reset. During the operation to reset, the surgeon said that the pacemaker had been turned completely over 8 times and the wires wrapped around it, consequently, tearing them all loose. In addition the wires had so much scar tissue in the veins that he could only connect the one defib wire at this time. He is suggesting that I turned it over 8 times, ever hear of...
