Has anyone with a PM ever been diagnoses with sleep apnea. I was diagnoses about 6yrs ago. When diagnoses the doctors said heart problems were associated with it. Since I didn't have any problems or symptoms of heart disease, I'm wondering if their connected now. The heart doc said studies are not completed to determine. A case of the chicken or the egg.

Handicap Permit

Well hello everyone its been awhile. How is everyone doing? Well Im having a problem at my College. I was told by campus safety that in order for them to continue to pick me up at my classes and drive me to my car that I would have to show proof of a disability, in the form of a Handicap Permit. I was wondering if anyone in here has gotten a Permit for them selfs and what the process would be to get one. I am not sure if my doctor will approve of it because I am not really disabled. Smarthealth Contact Heart Rate Monitor

I purchased one of these on line from Assist Creative Resources, Wrexham. At any time, by just placing two fingers on the watch it gives an accurate heart rate, ideal if you worry about it, or you are exercising, and wish to know your BPM.
I had excellent service and follow up from this Company, they can be trusted to supply and service anything in this line.

Late Entry to Scubadiving

I didn't start diving until I was 50 years old (54 now). I found I really enjoy it. Has anyone gone back to diving after implant? I have an ICD/pacemaker (3 wires). My doc says I should be able to resume diving but I'd like to hear from those that have done it. I'm not too keen on an incident 80 feet under! Anybody?

anesthesia

i'd like to ask all those out there, especially with stents and congestive heart failure, what is the big risk with anesthesia?

i've been rejected twice in the last month for needed procedures outside of the heart realm. one case , i didn't stop my blood thinners soon enough (plavix, aspirin), the other is i stopped them too soon. each doctor seems to have their own opinion on the matter.
i finally got in touch with the director of anesthesia at the hospital and he informed me...

Afib-and Pumonary vein abalation??

I have a pacemaker for sinus bradacardia

and parxosmyl afib

and I am on medication liquid bete blocker 40 mg a day at

night to stop or try to limit my attacks while asleep
Apparantly pulmonary vein abalation is 85 % effective at ridding you of afib more effective if you have paroxsmyl afib opposed to chronica fib.
Has anyone gone through this operation?
How long does it last I am told 3 - 5 hours seems a long time .
What are side effets?

airport screening

My husband and I are going to Maui at the end of September, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversay and to celebrate life. Since April I have had 4 stents put in and a month later my pacemaker. My question is about airport screening. A little leary about it and need assurance that they treat people with PM's with respect. We will be going through LAX Los Angeles Inter'l airport.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Sweating

I just came back from a very slow walk a few blocks. 10 days post op. I was always cold or comfortable before. It is sunny but about 70 degrees. I found heart racing, myself sweaty and had to stop. Why? Only lower rate is set at 60. Not higher one I thinkDetection rate says 180 is that mine or set one?

my baby and his pacemaker

hi. I've written before on parents and kids site. Has anyone had trouble after their pacemaker with infection on the cut or fluid around the heart. My baby is back in hospital yet again with fluid around the heart and they don't know if its infection or a reaction to the tape being attached to the heart. I'm so worried for him. Thanks to you all xxx

Wii Fit

Anyone have problems using a Wii Fit? I'm fine with the Wii games but we got a balance board this week and I've been getting dizzy playing some of the games. It might just be me! I've been maxing out at the gym occasionally also which makes me dizzy, though it doesn't feel like my rate is too high when it happens.

How does rate response work

I have an ICD and have problems with getting the rate response settings adjusted correctly. A small level of activity or road vibration results in my heart rate increasing significantly and I feel pretty awful. Could someone please advise how an ICD works, in particular the sensing of activity and how it increases your heart rate. Thank you

Hi there, I'm new here and am wondering if anyone can help. My 16yr daughter had her dual chamber pm inserted Nov 07. In March 08 she had a syncope episode due to hypotension. Her Cardio prescribed Florinef - it increased her BP within a day but she battled with dizziness for a bout week after starting the treatment. He stopped the Florinef after 1 months treatment. Now, she has had a few sycnope episodes due to hypotension again, he has prescribed Florinef and increased her minimum heart rate....

I'm 27 with a new ICD

Hi, I am 27 and just had my pacer/diffib put in a week ago. I have been having terrible anxiety and depression and I'm just not coping well at all. I really don't know if it is from the meds (Coreg/ Lisinaprilll) I'm on or just the pacer itself...I also just had a baby 9 weeks ago but it seems like this has all hit me at once. I never even knew I had a heart problem until 3 months before my baby was due. How long does it take to wrap your head around all this?? I just want to feel normal again...
