hi everyone,
I am very new to this site. I am a 22 with a pc. I am also a ballet dancer and teacher. I got my pc in feb and have been feeling very good compared to before my pc. I have had swelling in my legs and feet for a good week now and can't put on my pointe shoes. Has anyone had this symptom after long days on your feet? i called my dr. the nurse said nothing to be concerned with, yea that is easy to say they don't have to deal with it!

I posted a message regarding fishing on charter boats with radar units. I see that there have been two comments and 75 reads. How do I find out what the comments are. I'm new on board so I need your help. Thanks
I've checked the message board almost daily and see nothing relating to my question. Is there another area I go to to see the comments?

I am 72 and always jogged and lifted weights. In 2004 I was told I was in a-fib and had bradycardia. I have had a pacemaker since that time. I have very slowly been able to regain some of my running form and have done a few races this year. Right now I am at a 10 minute mile which usually places me in about the middle of the pack in the over 70 age group. I would like to hear from anyone out there doing this and how is it going for you. My recovery time after a race seems to take much longer...

I have a St. Jude Medical pacemaker Model 5342 in my chest since 2000. I love to fish but have been reluctant to go out on charter boats because I have found no one to give me a definitive answer regarding the radar on board ship. Will these shipboard radar units affect my pacemaker?
Would appreciate whatever data you can provide me on this matter.

Thanks for your replies. I had my first post surgery meeting with my cardiologist who still felt I should quit climbing. He said it was the same as weight lifting and neither should be attempted because of the potential for lead dislodgment. Reading that other people still continue to weight lift I feel he may be too conservative. I posted a climbing with icd question on a climbing forum were a cardio physiologist responded that she felt she would be more concerned about an incident when cli...

Hi,
This is my first post.I had my P.M installed in March this year after some palpitations and very occasional dizzy spells. It has been an experience over the last 6 months and I'm finally getting into full swing with my exersize.I want to swim but am not sure about the risk of lead dislodgement or crushing.I am also confused as to the weather or not I should do weights.
Cheers
Pete

To Mr Boatman,
I received your message in regards to weightlifting. You mentioned you have full range of motion with no weight restrictions. Could you tell me how intense are your workouts and what weightlifting movements do you perform?
Thank you,
Charlie

I am new to this site and have posted this thread on two other forums before I found this sports thread. Sorry

I have been a avid rock climber for over 30 years having enjoyed all aspects of the sport. The last few years I mainly sport climb (5.12a/b)and boulder. Does anyone still climb as hard as they did before surgery? How about indoor training , any...

Hi- do you guys know how long we need to wait until doing the elliptical trainer (the one without using your arms)? I am walking and riding the bike and it feels great! I am anxious to do the elliptical. Also, any hints for sweating to keep the area dry? I know that I need to keep it covered in the shower for a month but does that also apply to sweating? Any ideas?

Hello I love to go backpacking but after a recent trip to isle royal national park I'm afraid I'll never be able to do more than day hikes. I could never get my pack in a comfortable position that didn't irritate my pacemaker site so I ended up wearing the shoulder straps down around by upper arms which was brutal. Has anyone out there found a backpack that's design is pacemaker friendly? I've looked at lumbar packs but haven't found any with a capacity for more than just a day hike.

I have a Class I heart block which is being corrected with a pacemaker. I am inerested in the experience of others as would regard exercise restart and any limits that are known. I do use a pulse monitor during exercise and adhere to aerobic pulse rates.
Hey! When can I ride my Seadoo!!??

My doctor thought I was crazy when I asked when I could ride my Seadoo again! Whats the big deal?? Am I correct in assuming I will be able to do everything I could do before, after I heal? Hey everybody out there in internet land. Tell me the great stories of the sports you still get to participate in and all the fun you are having, even though you have a pacemaker! Help! I need to hear something great! Also, is there any other 50 yr olds or younger, that have a pacemaker?? Everyone, keep your s...

Hi! I am a 27 year old female and I had a pacemaker installed last week due to a slow heart beat and complications due to that. I have always enjoyed exercising and was wondering how long you waited until you got back into it. I don't want to get too out of shape so would like to start back soon. I really would like to use the elliptical or run. I feel great with the pacemaker, save the terribly sore shoulder that I am sure you all experienced. Any suggestions?

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
