VTACH Study

Hi there,

this is for all the Defib patients out there, especially those who suffered a heart attack:
Catheter Ablation Prior To Defibrillator Shock Reduces Risk Of Recurrence Of Ventricular Tachycardia (VTACH Study)
Link: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/174929.php

Prof. Kuck is my EP, and I heard him speaking about this study at a national experts meeting in October. Was highly interesting, and the results were very convincing.

Best wishes

body scanner vs pacemaker/defib

:
Answer from my letter on the use of body scanner if you have implanted device
Thanks for writing.
I am told that we do not know that the pacemaker’s performance will be impacted by such a small level of ionizing radiation exposure from the scanner utilizing backscatter technology. However, you should consult with your physician who implanted the pacemaker for more information on any safety concerns you may have regarding your specific pacemaker and potential interference from...

Dental X-ray and drills

Hi All,

I have just got back from the Dentist and had to under go root canal treatment. This mean that there was lots of drilling and and x-ray. I did advise the Dentist that I had a PM and she said it was ok...

I'm still new to this only had the PM for 6 weeks, any advice would be great, as I have to go back in 1 week for phase 2 of drilling and more than likely another x-ray... I have a PM checkup tomorrow, so will ask there, but I don't seem to get definitive answers ab...

Sick update

Hi guys,
I am home after spending the afternoon at the medical clinic. I don't have the flu but something is making me very, very sick. I was very dehydrated so I was given an IV. I was also given some meds to help to stop the vomiting. yeah.

Now, the test show that my immune system is in overdrive. ???? The Dr. has no idea why. He is running a lot of test, blood for one. I still feel awful, I look like someone drove over me. My face is bruised from getting so sick for so long....

Dreading the Day

During my last interrogation I was told I had nine years left on my pacemaker. I have no problem having my pacer changed. I don't even give it a thought. What I dread more than anything is having to wear the hospital johnnie. Anybody with me on this? We have multimillion dollar pieces of medical equipment and brilliant medical minds and yet we can't improve the johnnie. Janet Jackson almost ruined her career due to a wardrobe malfunction and yet we walk around in these things and no one s...

Pacemakers and Marine Environment

I received a pacemaker in late December due to a slow heartbeat. So far so good. I have been unable to locate any information on pacemakers and equipment used on boats. I am very active during the summer boating season on boats which have marine radios (both hand held and fixed), GPS, and radar. I was wondering if there will be any problems with being in close proximity to this equipment while operating small boats. I would appreciate information that anyone may have. Timberhitch

A Solemn Plea

I don't have a pacemaker, my dad does. I'm doing this as a favor to him since he doesn't know much about computers. It's hard to ask other for help. And I don't know how to say this without it sounding horrible.

My dad has had his pacemaker for about five years now, and he was worried about the battery running out since I think he uses it a alot. I called the nurses in Indianapolis and they tell me these batteries can last anywhere from five to seven years. This is a real worry for o...

Pre-op fun...

I had a pre-op appointment with my EP today...and had the following conversation:
EP: "So, how is your exercise program going?"
Me (more than mildly exasperated): "Um, well, since the last time I was here you said that I was banned from the gym and from exercising at any level of intensity..."
EP: "Just checking...and you're still banned."

And then there's my favorite nurse who always checks my height. Seriously, I'm 30, I'm pretty sure that I'm not getting any taller.....

Too Good To Be True

I knew it!!!!!!!!!!!

Pacer since November of 2004. Miserable ever since, matter of fact, I feel worse day by day.

After 5 years I finally get to see an EP. He figures out that I have Junctional Rhythm.

He makes some changes to my pacer on December 14th. Before I leave the clinic, I ask if I don't feel "right", I am NOT waiting another 6 months for my next appointment. He ASSURES me that will NOT happen and gives me Anna's phone # (she is the one who books h...

Ticker two turned one yesterday!

Well hello friends. I hope all of you are doing well. In celebration of making it a year with ticker two I made myself a cake and enjoyed the fact I made it one year without having surgeries. Awesome news!

On another note I have my surgery set and will be going in on the 19th for my procedure which will be a lead removal and getting my pm positioned better. My chest is still very swollen from the pm rotating around in there and sitting directly up in the air at points. I had to post...

re: implant pain 3 months post surgery

Hi all I had a pacemaker implanted in September and after about 6 weeks I could not even tell it was there and all was great. But in the past week or so I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my site and it radiates into my left shoulder and it seems that the pacemaker has came to the surface of my skin more than it was previous. I asked my doctor about it today and he said that sometimes they shift slightly as you get back into your normal daily life however he did not think that it had s...

Wierd Sensation

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping that you guys can help me. My mom has had her pacemaker for about 6 months now. She has been feeling a strange sensation that she says is hard to describe. From what i can gather from what she describes her symptoms are the following: she feels her chest tighten a bit all of a sudden and feels a little short of breath, she also says she feels some discomfort in her stomach. The episodes last a few minutes and then they go away. We have spoken to her doc and he...
