I currently have a Medtronic Dual Respose pacemaker implanted for Bradycardia. Slow heartbeat that dropped at one time to 18 beats per minute which led to a pacemaker being implanted.
I am 70 years old and my Urologist wants to put me on Flomax to control my frequent trips to the bathroom. Flomax has a history and warnings that it can drop my blood pressure and heart beat and lead to fainting for some patients.
Does anyone have a similar condition and take Flomax? What dosage? Any prob...

Hi to all, I am new to the froum and just had a couple of questions. I had a guidant pacer inserted September 1st for symptomatic bradycardia. I saw a cardiologist and an EP and they could not give me a more definitive diagnosis. I agreed to the pacemaker because driving was becoming unsafe (dizziness with drop in HR) My resting heart rate rarely went above 40 and at night would drop into the low 30's but I was able to elevate my HR while exercising. Anyways, my question is this, prior to my pac...

Hi Everyone, quick question for anyone that may have some feedback to this issue.
I was told that with a pacemaker you were not suppose to be shooting rifles/shot guns that have a "big kick" to them. But what about pistols? Is there a pistol out there that is pacer friendly or would any pistol be pacer friendly? Wanting one for home and personal protection.
Thanks and appreciate any and all comments.

We will take lots of photos and post some in the gallery. We also plan to tell everyone about the weekend in the next newsletter.

Anyone having pain in their shoulder? Certain movements and motions using my left arm seems to be somewhat restricted. Any suggestions?
Also, my pacemaker always feels like it is moving.....is this common?

Any tips or info so much appreciated. Perhaps I am just distrustful but I am not sure what is happening.
I received PM 5 wks ago. Per follow up readings I think I had A fib (?) for 5 days but dr is not worried since it was not severe and nothing in past 3 weeks. Hearing though per techs that I am having A Tach, V Tach, and AV Tach. Not sure what all of that means. The one that seems to be of most concen is the one I do not seem to feel, whatever happened on 8/25 thru 8/30.

NEED ADVICE
I just had my pacemaker put it this past Thursday September 18th. I am 32 years old and I am in great physical shape. I normally work out in the gym 3-5 times a week lifting weights. The pacemaker was put into to keep my heart rate from dropping to the 30s...which happens when I have blackout. My normal rate is low because I am good health. It is normally around 44-58 resting. However, they set my pacemaker at 60 which means my heart rate will not go below 60 to what it is normally use to b...

My father had pacemaker/defib implanted in summer of 2008. Everything has been fine up until a few weeks ago. He feels/hears his heart beating in his left ear. His diagnosis for having the implant put in was hypertrophic ventricular cardiomyopathy. Anyone ever heard of this occuring?

Dear Frank,
Thanks to all the comments I got. I was just worried that from the time my pacemaker was installed some 2 years ago, the palpitations started but only occasionally. Time came when my heart palpitates more even by simply raising my arms. If I am sitting still at the computer, no palpitations. Once I reached out for something , then I feel it. My cardiologist has been dismissing it as normal and it only is the result of those minimum activities. Hopefully, he is right. When I am a...

What do you all think about working as a surgical technologist and having a pacemaker? As a surgical technologist I would be in the operating room with the Dr. assisting him with scrubbing and handing him the proper instruments for the procedure and also with the care of the patient. I'm just wondering because I heard that certain bugs become immune to antibiotics in the hospital and by me working there and around antibiotics all the time when it's time for me to be fitted with another pacemaker...

First of all what is role of doctor u r consulting at first; do he actully perform surgery or he only consults other doc. and how these pacemaker companies are brought into action. Do patients who will undergo surgery contact these companies or doctors (cardiologists) contacts these companies for relevant pacemakers??? Please guide me. Thanks

Hi Everyone!!
I was wondering if those of you who have Junctional Rhythm, do you know if your pacemakers are set any differently from someone who has a pacemaker for Heart Block? or even Bradycardia.
I am to see an EP this Thursday and we will be discussing Junctional Rhythm and whatever, if anything, was found on my loop/event recorder that I wore in June/July.
Just don't know what questions to ask.
Any comments sure would be appreciated.

First thank you all for being so informative. I have a question that is bothering me. I can feel my heart beating in my pacemaker, physically. If I put my hand on my pacemaker you can feel my heart beat when it beats way faster than it should. I am 100% dependant and 4 years out. Thanks, ponyrider. Any info would be helpfull no Ins.
