Not prepared for the recovery tim

July 20th I had pacemaker surgery and like others who have posted comments, I was totally unprepared for the pain involved and the recovery time. I tried to go back to work one week after the surgery and ended up staying for 4 hours. That night I was in so much pain that I could barely handle myself. The next morning I went to my primary care doctor. They ran precautionary tests but basically said the pain is normal and that it can be 6 to 8 week for recovery. I was floored. Not one time d...

My grandma is getting a pacemaker

Hello,

I'm new to this site and I mainly joined because we just learned today that my grandma is getting a pacemaker. I'm not really sure if it's the pacemaker or the defi that she is getting, but my question is this.

Her son who is my uncle and like a dad to me had a heart attack at 41 about a year ago. He used to smoke a lot and so he has stents on his veins. We have not told him anything about grandma going to get this device and I'm not sure if we should. My uncle is pr...

I'm hoping some one can tell me?I'm hoping too that when I get back to running that the bra strap won't hurt me as the miles go by and the strap moves?
thanks you

How much of your pacer can you feel?

Now that I have recovered enough to get back into a regular work out schedule I am starting to drop the weight I put on post surgery (5 lbs so far) and I am noticing that I can feel every little bit of the pacer. I was told it was put in in the muscle but I can feel the outline clearly, feel where the leads connect and I swear I can even feel the leads themselves. I sort of expected it to be more of an indistinct lump not something when I can feel so much of the outline.

Coreg CR & BP

I have been on Coreg CR for both heart and high bp. I still have morning hypertension that gets better later in the morning, but any stress or anxiety of any kind (like visiting the doctor:) and my bp shoots wayyyyy up. My coreg cr dose is one 40 and one 20 because a 60 is not available. My doctor does not want to increase it because of possibly going too low and feeling bad. Anyone else with that problem? Would appreciate your input. Otherwise I feel o.k. with the Coreg Cr, but I am concerned a...

HELL OF A SHOCK

I work in a hospital that treats cancer patients that are terminally ill. Yesterday I was asked if I was willing to get involved in fund raising for childrens cancer reseach. I was told it meant driving a jeep towing a trailer supporting a walker who was walking from Lands End to John A Groats, that is the whole length of the country. The trip would take 8 weeks. I went down to the caravan site where the walker was staying and the jeep and trailer was parked. To my utter astonishment I was confr...

Home after head pain

Hi, I am home now after the shooting pains in the back of my head after being in the hospital for 4 days. I had a pacemaker put in on July 8th. They took all kinds of test, and all the results came back negative for anything. They even interrogated my pacemaker again. I have to see my primary doctor in a couple of weeks for a follow up. I think they believe that it will go away in time. One if my lympth nodes are swollen a little in that area around my neck, but they could not find anythin...

Sudden pulsating sensation

Hi, fellow members:
I've got my PM implanted on the right side since 4 and a half years ago. Today I've had the most strange sensation. The muscles around the chest area of the implant, have begun to pulsate at the heart's rythm for a while, stopped and then begun again. This has lasted for some minutes, time to go to the nearest Emergency Room, where I've taken an electrocardiogram, that's been found OK. All the time I've been feeling well, and so I' feeling now,but the thing sounds ver...
