SMITTY: Thanks for your "comments" and visual of the pacemaker and wires on 11/8/09. Even my cardiologist did not show that. The pacemaker visual was really plain and simple to read. Hope your "energizer bunny" is doing ok since your new battery.

Salado, Texas, is like a "winter wonderland" during the holidays I have been told. A lot going on there with Christmas decorations with a lot of lights. I hear people drive from all over the country to see Salado during the Christmas ho...

What to Expect

Had my pacemaker for 3 months now (dual lead) for 2nd degree heart block. I'm luckily back to golf and started playing hockey again. I feel great but I am now thinking about what is next. Is it typical for this condition to get worse and progress into 3rd degree heart block where I will become totally dependent on the PM.

Too scared to sleep again

I was sitting here on the couch when I could feel an episode start to come on. It's really the first one I have felt since the pm. I felt my pulse and I couldn't count it but it was super slow. Then it slowly got faster. So I am guessing the pm kicked in.

But I got like a hot flash, my palms got all sweaty and my brow. Was that the panic part?

Husband working midnights tonight so I am alone with the baby all night again. That freaks me out too. Took a Xanax but not really h...

What's the difference from being paced in the atrium than being paced in the ventricles? I don't understand what the doctor meant when he said my ventrilcle is being paced less and the atrium more he said the conduction system is getting better.. But my atrium part is being paced more.. This is from my last visit in May until now.. I don't get it can anybody help me out. and also I live in Michigan and am thinking about going to Ann Arbor to the University of Mich. for treatment to find a new E....

The long trek

Well folks this will be my last posting for this year. On Saturday 14/11 we sail back to mainland for Brian to have his surgery in Melbourne on 20 November. It is a worrying time for us all and we are praying that all will go well. It has been a difficult year.

On the bright side I hope to catch up with Rewired Aussie Girl and Laughingkookaburra. This will be after christmas and hopefully will augur a good start to a new year when perhaps things will be a little better.

Don't Ever Give Up!!

Hi Everyone!

Pete sent me this and I really want to share it with all of you.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first,...

Wenckebach (pronounced: Winky-Bock)

I was diagnosed with Wenckebach yesterday in the ER after thinking I had the flu for 2 weeks. It is second degree heart block. When I hit 100 BPM, is when I experience the problems. I get sweats and feel out of breath, mostly when I either climb stairs or walk for a little while. When I had my pacemaker placed in July, They only put in 1 lead because of my Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava. Not too sure what they are going to do, as I may need the other lead put in. I see the EP on Thursd...

Still not up to par!

Well hello pacer family,
I hope all of you are doing well. I am still trying to catch up on posts but have discovered it may take me forever to accomplish that.
I spent my first week out of a dr office or the Er in a month period it was nice but I know I need to get back in and figure out why my swelling is so intense in my chest.
I had a problem appear this week that I have not experienced yet and it was my first time. My pm is turning and moving in odd positions on m...

Faster resting heart rate after new PM and leads

Hi everyone,

I recently had to have one of my leads removed and got a new PM as well and have had a high resting heart rate since (about 90 vs 60 previously). Dr's said this was ok but I am just wondering if anyone has had or heard about this happening and if it could mean anything. I am able to do most things although I havent exercised as much as I did before the lead replacement. When I have taken my bike out, I do notice that I have less endurance than before but that could me j...
