Pacemaker Surgery Left Lead Read

I am almost 81 years old. I recently had pacemaker surgery that took longer than expected. The doctor said it usually takes 1-3 times to get a good read on the left ventricle, but it took him 25 times. He said it was very tricky to get a read. Is this because of my age?

I feel nauseous all over. I can't find anything on the internet to explain to me what it really means when it takes 25 times to get a read. I'm assuming it does not mean anything, but I would like to put my mind to res...

Palpatations/PVCs

It is after midnight and I have been experienceing skipped beats and pauses (pvcs I guess) since 9:30. They scare the crap out of me when they are severe. When I get them this bad they are accompanied by bloating, burping and gas. When you tell the Doctors this they seem to think it is not inportant but there is some kind of connection. It has been a stressful day and I was at the local coffee shop listening to live music. I drank a cup of hot tea, a very sweet glass of lemonade and ate a couple...

Pacemaker and Parkinsons

I joined the forum in July, just after I had my pacemaker fitted I have found it really supportive just feeling that I am a part of such a supportive community. I am having a bit of a roller coaster few months. Pacemaker was a bit of a suprise and although I recovered physically very well, I was back at work within 2 weeks, I have been through all sorts of denial since then - results got mixed up at the hospital, I was just having a bad day etc. My Dr also noticed that I have a bit of a tremor...

Third Degree Heart Block

This club is wonderful! I have a quick question for anyone and everyone. My husband went into third degree heart block after his maze procedure - thus the pacemaker. The doctor's tell us that after the swelling goes down in his heart that it "might" conduct again. It has been 3 weeks... has anyone ever heart of third degree heart block clearing up, or "unblocking" so to speak? Thanks so much for any help.

Thank ya'll for your many "comments" re: Warfarin/INR recently. One of the "comments came from Pookie. While sending me her "comments", she shared with me she was interviewed and posted in the "Pulse Newsletter", found in the right hand corner area under, "Latest News"

I did not even know we, PM Club, even had the newsletter. It says it is only published in the Fall & Spring. I noticed the first part of the "news" was re: "Social in FLA" which was back in September! After scannin...

Anyone in the San Antonio, Tx area

I am 1wk in my pacemaker surgery, very soar, not sure what to expect. A little briefing on my story. I went to the ENT doctor for possible sinus infection which was confirmed and was told I needed surgery which I already knew. ENT sent me to cardiologist for clearance because of previous history of heart problems. After stress test, holter monitoring, I was diagnosed with slow heart rate and quickly scheduled for pacemaker surgery so I could still be on schedule for sinus surgery 3days later....

Mammogram

Thanks to all of you who have offered comments about what to expect for those of us having their first mammogram post PM. I talked to the tech who had lots of experience with this and it went very well. Funny with the new digital mammography the procedure was much more comfortable than any previous experiences. dottodot

Hospital Again

I thought I was in the clear after my incident last week with the fluid around my heart. Turns out I was wrong! This last weekend I started getting pressure in my chest again that continued to build. I waited it out until Tuesday, and finally called my cardiologist. He sent me straight to the ER and a CT scan confirmed that the fluid had returned. He admitted me to the hospital, and I have been here ever since.

My surgeon is out of town for the week, and no one else wants to take my...

Mystery Shut Down

Weird happenings here. I have home monitoring for my PM, sends report to pm mfg every 24 hours. Last report went on 9/4/09 at 2:00 a.m., which is correct timing -- but for some reason no more reports after that. They finally contacted me 9/28 to let me know that reports were coming in, sent me new monitor. That one did not work either. Went through several days with the pm tech on the phone with let's try this, wait and see if get report -- nothing.
Finally yesterday a.m., on phone w...

CALLING ALL PACERS IN GEELONG AREA - AUSTRALIA

Hi Pals

I will be over from Tasmania to Melbourne/Geelong.Torquay on 14th November. My hushand has to have serious spinal surgery in melbourne on 20 November and on about 28th we will be staying in Geelong/Torquay until 11 January.

I was wondering if there was anybody out there who would like to get in touch and maybe we could get together for a meal. Nothing fancy - the local sports club or a picnic in the park would be nice, near the beach. Even a cup of coffee.

PACING CHECK

Had my 6 monthly pacing check yesterday in Plymouth UK. Everything went fine, no problems,100% paced, no logs, so I am all set fair next week, for my trip to New Zealand. I had calculated that I had exactly 5 years left on the battery which the technician confirmed for me and I also got to see the gas gauge again. I have also discovered that you can put the technicians on the spot by asking them if they have come across a pacemaker patient with LVNC. This really foxes them. Cheers Peter

Counseling for 16 yr old son pre-pacemaker

My son is getting his pacemaker on Nov. 20th for a CHB. He has recently started to act out in school and seems very angry. I know that he is scared about the up coming surgery. He is also dyslexic and struggles with grades as it is. He has always played basketball and many other sports, and is now to tired to keep up like he did. He has been changed into regular P.E. and seems to be taking out his anger on his new P.E. teacher as well. Do any of you know a good Counselor for him to s...
