Question: Has anyone thrown a DVT in their subclavical vein after surgery? Just wondering because I am being sent in in the morning for an ultrasound to rule out a DVT due to the pain I have been having around my collar bone and lower neck that started about a week and a half/two weeks after surgery. Docs still have no other ideas of cause but want to rule out a DVT since the pain would be a symptom of that although I don't have any other symptoms (such as swelling of the left arm, chest pain...

I've begun treatment with a chiropractor who also uses an electric stimulus device on acupressure points on my earlobes to reduce pain from a pinched nerve. He uses the device on one earlobe at a time. I am concerned about possible interference to my medtronic dual-lead pacemaker and wondered if anyone has information that might be helpful. I appreciate your help.

Hi All
I have had a two lead PM for two years and am 100% paced.
During my years of undiagnosed AV blockage and subsequent years of worring about walking around on life support I have managed to put on an extra 30 pounds or so.
It seems like it's time to get back to working out. I have taken an interest in Chen Style Taijiquan (Shaolin Kung Fu lite). I recently spoke to a local coach about training. We both agreed that we could structure workouts to avoid hit...

Hello everyone, new here and excited about hearing from regular folks and not all the doctor hype.
I recently joined a 24 hr fitness facility and I told them up front I had a pacer and asked if I would incurr any problems with certain motorized equipment and/or magnets in any of the equipment. They seemed totally dazed as the thought that a person with a pacer actually invade the domain of the physically fit gods.
My question: Does it hurt or hamper someone to...

Since my surgery I have have what feels like a tearing or ripping pain around the point of my collar bone near my throat. It is much worse with certain movements. At first I figured it was just normal postop adhesions but now that I am 16 days post surgery and the pain if anything is getting worse I was wondering if anyone else has had this. The best way to describe the pain is that it feels like someone has hooked a fish hook into my skin and is pulling HARD on it. Pain was bad enough last...

I have home nurses taking care of this pc wound site. One of the head nurses said there was going to have to be a administratration "discussion" on the procedure and the extreme infection that followed. All the lawyers are now starting to call about possible legal action. I'm just happy to be alive and mending so I can have the proper pm installed. There sure is a lot of buzz around the attending Dr's actions and his comments to me. What to do? What to do?

Hello all, I'm new to this site and I hope I can get some good info about this situation. My father had a pacemaker implanted two years ago. He has been perfectly fine since. No complications at all. He walked two miles a day, rode ATV's with us, very active and healthy and happy. Five days after he had his pacemaker settings "adjusted", he dropped dead outside his home one Saturday morning. Has anybody had this happen to a loved one?
2-4 weeks away
Hello,
I found this site about 2 weeks ago and have logged on just about every day. I can't believe all the helpful people on this site, you are all amazing and I appreciate all your feedback (and I haven't even posted yet!!!).
My father was diagnosed with a LBBB about 4 years ago. I was of course, hyper-sensitive about anything regarding my heart. . .so I decided to have an ECG about 3 years ago. Well, it turns out I also have the LBBB and a cardiomyopothy to go with it. I know I ha...

Im not sure if this is under the right heading, but here is another question.
Transformer, not the movie or robot lol but the up on the pole.
How much interference does one of those puppies put out.
We are set up in a campground for a few months and parked right under one. We are only about 30 feet from the transformer at any time we are in the camper.
Shoud we pack it up and move or is it safe to sit here?

How long will be be before Apple jumps into the growing pacemaker market and comes out with the iPacer. Think about it... a little touchscreen on your chest where you can not only set your own pacemaker settings but also play iTunes, never be lost again because it has a GPS (and the ambulance knows where to find you if you run into a problem), dials the doctor whenever it or you have a question... any other ideas on what to have in it.
Any suggestions?

My pm was put in because of total av block 1,5 years ago, but the reason for the block remains unknown. The doctors tested a lot of things including hemocromatosis, lyme's disease, sarcoidosis, dcm, connective tissue diseases, systemic (or systematic, don't know the correct term in english) diseases and rheumatic diseases, but everything was (fortunately) negative. I was wondering if anyone has initially had a block for unknown reason and found out the reason later (if so, what was it?), or has...

I just came from my mammogram test. It seems like everytime I go there is a problem. Anyway, the tech seem surprise at how to deal with someone with a pacemaker. She ask, "can I put pressure on the pacemaker" ? I said no way....I did not see her point when my chest is alot further down. My location of the pacemaker is upper left chest. So, what gives ???? If anyone could give me advice or opinions on having a mammogram with a pacemaker. Thank you the great pacemaker club !

Hi, I am new to here and just read from a member about having laser eye surgery. I have just been given the run around by Ultralase. I asked before booking my consultation whether it would be ok to take place if I had a pacemaker and was told this was no problem. Once I arrived they said they couldn't even consider it because of their insurances and the surgeon wouldn't take the risk. I am not dependent upon my pacemaker as I have vasavagal syncope and I am very lucky as my heart is in good...

Has anyone had the experience of pacemaker disturbance when near a wind turbine? Our local hotel has one and I have to drive past quite often. At night especially I freqyuently experience a faster heart rate and thumping that is almost painful when I drive past. It takes a couple of minutes to settle down. I don't think i am imagining it, as even when we are absorbed in conversation and I don't note that we are near it, I will still feel the discomfort. I can't find anything by searching th...
