I had a Medtronic Adapta PM implanted about 9 months ago. One of my issues was that whenever I did anything aerobic, my heart rate would go up to about 130 for a minute or so and then crash to about 90 and stay there. I would be too tired to continue exercising.
When I got the Adapta, I was told that it could adapt to the level of activity I was engaged in. I have found though that it requires a lot of jostling to trigger it to maintain a HR in the aerobic range. Jogging will trigger...

My pacemaker is FINE, and no AFib problems !
But I've had muscle pain and weakness, arthritis-like joint pains, fatigue and low energy, "senior moments", etc...
Several times I've quit the statins (Crestor, Zocor, Pravachol, Mevacor, etc.) but went back on them because the symptoms didn't improve. And then things always got worse !
So I've quit the statins again, and am taking CoQ10 in hope of keeping things from deteriorating. My current suspicion is that stat...

Thank you all that responded, I have a few other things to add that I forgot to mention before. My mom had what you call a catherter ablation, I guess this procedure burns out the heart cells that cause the irregular heart beat. After that they connected the pacemaker. If anyone had this procedure done, or knows about it ..I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know how it is going for you. As I mentioned before, my mom had the surgery last Monday, and is very depressed that her...

On March 3rd I had a pacemaker installed,I am only 55 years old,and I know age has no requirements on heart problems. I wrote here for advice about this thing almost burning a hole in me and the mass of blood and puss that was coming out of my incisioin. The ER just sent me home and told me to take some aspirin. They said my blood work was good straight down the line, the thing is they didn't take any blood from me and I told the "Dr" that. I was discharged and sent home to feel like "crap",no...

Hi all,
Nice to read about all the PRs. I did 10 miles in NY just last week in Riverside park and 7 around the reservoir in Central Park. I think age more than a pacemaker is going to keep me from ever setting any new PRs. NY parks are looking good and we had cool clean air in June. I am now back home in Atlanta where I don't do so well in the high heat and humidity.
I have bradychardia with a tendency towards a-fib. I have a dual chamber St Jude with vibration sensor. My H...

Hi everyone,
I haven't been on this site in a while. How is everyone!!? I'm sure all of you know about the event in Tampa Florida. It sounds really exciting. I've been waiting to go to something like this. I think it's going to be really fun and enjoyable. I was wondering if anybody from the pacemaker club is going. If anybody is going if they could please let me know.
Thank you!

Hi everyone.
, here in Australia today the Sunday paper had a piece on stem cell research, apparently one of the big hospitals in Melbourne are close to having us do away with our pacemakers. Has anyone else heard about such a thing?

Hi all,
It has been a while since I have written on here. I have been feeling better since my implant in December '08. I have a dual chamber pacemaker for complete heartblock. For the last couple of weeks though I have been having the shortness of breath again, PVC's really bad, I feel bloated all the time, and my left ankle and foot keeps swelling and is slightly discoloured like a have a bruise. I spend a lot of time on my feet though for my job and things have been somewhat stressful...

BE SURE YOU KNOW THE QUESTION BEFORE ANSWERING.
Although I've been a member for a relatively short time, I've been reading the postings here much longer and have been amazed at the number and variety of questions asked. When I saw the joke below the Pacemaker Club came to mind along with the thought of be sure you know what the question is before you answer.
Now I'm not saying any of you have given an answer and didn't understand the question, but I know I would have se...

Hello,
I had my pm installed last December. Anyway, my chest started (not my heart) hurting about a month ago and went to my cardiologist to ensure my heart was ok... it was, so I was relieved and thought I must just be hyper-sensitive. Well, now I feel what seems to be a large gauge wire just below the skin above my pm. I know it's not my imagination as my wife and daughter can feel it too. In fact, my wife noticed the skin around the scar from my pm surgery look irrititated and...

I had my PM implant 4/9/09. My cardiologist had me come in today for an optimization. All I know is the techs did a heart echo while I was also hooked up to the Medtronic machine and tweaked my settings. They whispered a lot and even put paper on the side of their face so I couldn't read lips and then would look back at the screen. It made me paranoid. I don't like whispering :-)
All I know for sure, from what the tech told me is my EF is still 25% which is what it was just befor...

Hello. I am new to this board and new to the pacemaker world so please bare with me. I am a 30 year old who just had a PM implanted last week. I have atrial tachycardia. I have had 3 failed ablations and can no longer get my tachycardia controlled with medications. They placed a Kappa dual lead PM. In 5 weeks I am going back in for them to totally ablate the AV node. I am very confused about this. I dont understand why they dont ablate my SA node instead of the AV node. He told me that...

I was sent this info. in a newsletter. I thought that you might want to print it out and keep in case you have other health situations, and need to have it. I would show it to your Cardio. Dr., and discuss it. Then show it to your G.P.

Hi, all...I just got a call today from my sister-in-law who works in a nursing home. She stated that they received a letter warning any of their residents with pacemakers not to play a Nintendo WII due to interferences with the pacemaker. Has anyone else heard of this? I know the controllers and such are all wireless, and maybe they have quite a strong frequency? Just wondering, as we have a WII at the Personal Care Home I work at!
