PM Wire Loose?

Hello,

I had my pm installed last December. Anyway, my chest started (not my heart) hurting about a month ago and went to my cardiologist to ensure my heart was ok... it was, so I was relieved and thought I must just be hyper-sensitive. Well, now I feel what seems to be a large gauge wire just below the skin above my pm. I know it's not my imagination as my wife and daughter can feel it too. In fact, my wife noticed the skin around the scar from my pm surgery look irrititated and...

I need help understanding settings

I had my PM implant 4/9/09. My cardiologist had me come in today for an optimization. All I know is the techs did a heart echo while I was also hooked up to the Medtronic machine and tweaked my settings. They whispered a lot and even put paper on the side of their face so I couldn't read lips and then would look back at the screen. It made me paranoid. I don't like whispering :-)

All I know for sure, from what the tech told me is my EF is still 25% which is what it was just befor...

confused about PM

Hello. I am new to this board and new to the pacemaker world so please bare with me. I am a 30 year old who just had a PM implanted last week. I have atrial tachycardia. I have had 3 failed ablations and can no longer get my tachycardia controlled with medications. They placed a Kappa dual lead PM. In 5 weeks I am going back in for them to totally ablate the AV node. I am very confused about this. I dont understand why they dont ablate my SA node instead of the AV node. He told me that...

Other Surgeries: New Guidelines

I was sent this info. in a newsletter. I thought that you might want to print it out and keep in case you have other health situations, and need to have it. I would show it to your Cardio. Dr., and discuss it. Then show it to your G.P.

Nintendo WII

Hi, all...I just got a call today from my sister-in-law who works in a nursing home. She stated that they received a letter warning any of their residents with pacemakers not to play a Nintendo WII due to interferences with the pacemaker. Has anyone else heard of this? I know the controllers and such are all wireless, and maybe they have quite a strong frequency? Just wondering, as we have a WII at the Personal Care Home I work at!

Michael Jackson's Cardiac Arrest

Has anyone seen any information as to whether Michael Jackson had one of the Portable Defibrillator units in his home? They are becoming more popular and for someone like him I would have though that his personal physician would have recommended one.

potruding edge of pacemaker

Hi. I'm new to the board. I am 41 and active. I had a pacemaker put in 3 weeks ago. I have noticed that the edge of the pacemaker towards my shoulder forms a slight ridge that potrudes slightly . My shirt rubs againt this and it also is causing me some anxiety because I like taking my shirt off in summer at pool parties, etc... Will this possibly go away. My Dr suggested in another month if it still in causing discomfort, we can do a second surgery to replace the pacer. He said the wire...

When can I fly?

I have decided to put in a pacemaker. I have had a slow heart beat for many years. I have no symptoms. However as my heart rate is around 35-40 most of the time and getting a bit slower over the past 4 years, my doctor is pushing me to put in a pacemaker. I am in good shape, 65 years old, live an active life. Mostly I want the pacemaker because my right shoulder needs a rotator cuff surgery so I can continue to play basketball. Can I still play basketball with a pacemaker?

Questions

I go for an interrogation of my pm in a couple of weeks and because I'm pretty much a "newbie" have some questions. since my pm in March occasionally I will feel tapping in my chest-I think it's the ventricular lead pacing as when I was in the ER and it was happening that was the pacing and when it went back to sinus and atrial lead pacing it went away. Has anyone had this experience? Also it seems that my pm has moved a little and in some positions the edges poke at the skin. I actually thought...

syncope bradycardia - like IBS but for the heart?

A few months ago I had an episode where I passed out for no known reason and with no warning. Went to the ER (I am a 50 year old male, very good cholesterol, good stress tests and ekg's, slightly elevated bp (130-80) and need to lose about 20 lbs. I did have Rheumatic Fever at age 7 but was told there was no heart damage. Also have intermittently been diagnosed with an RBBB which sometimes is there and sometimes isn't but when they first noticed it they put me through everything up to and inc...
