New Doctor = Ablation

I posted not long ago about seeking out a new doctor. After lots of research, I decided to go to the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute. I’m so glad I did! I have an amazing new doctor, who is very knowledgeable and compassionate. He listened and answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood what was happening.

He has decided that another ablation would be in my best interest. He is going to try an epicardial ablation in addition to the traditional endocardial approach. I...

2nd surgery in 6 months.

Hi.

Just a quick one. I have had a pacemaker for 6months, treating NCS, and i've had lots of problems with it moving. I've just had a check up with my surgeon, and they'll be doing another lot of surgery in two weeks to secure it in place. I've had a sider insertion, and instead of putting it back where it was, they're moving it into my muscle.
I'm a little worried about the recovery with this. I presume it will be a longer and more painful recovery being inside the muscle....

some good thoughts

Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

When in doubt, just take the next small step.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends
and parents will. Stay in touch.

You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

Make peace with your past so...

One year

Hi,

My first year has gone and I'm going for the first big check up. I make lots of outdoor sports and I don't have any problem as long as I keep my HR lower than 180. If I'm trying to go faster than 180 I miss beats. Then I need to stop for a while, otherwise my rate goes down to 100. I don’t know exactly the reason for that (?). Do you have any idea?

Although 180 is quite high, I would like to have no upper limit (my PM is a consequence of a complete AV block after an ab...

Depressed

I am a 29 yr old (Male) World Record holder, multi-time All-Conference runner with 200+ trophies and medals. I compete in triathlete competitions as well as running and cycling events regularly. April 13, 2009 I had a pacemaker implanted. I am having a very hard time adjusting/dealing with having a pacemaker with my background. No one seems to understand me or where I'm coming from. I am a Army Officer with a Infantry specialty and I am in the middle of being "medically" discharged....WOW!!...

Life is terminal..... So Live it

Life is Terminal so enjoy it.

To all of the PM Club members. I would like to share what being 2 years new is like.

Just two years ago a little after I turned 50. I had, 3 pretty bad heart attacks; fortunately all in the hospital.

I was afraid of not what had happened to me but what would happen to me, my life and the lives of my kids.
Am I afraid now; -NO-.

I have developed a very special view on life and everything that happens to us and all of...

TWO GLASSES OF WINE

TWO GLASSES OF WINE: When things in your life seem almost too much to handle,
when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2
glasses of wine...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it w...

Let me know who would like to join me in this quest...jeje. God bless yo...

I just spoke to her via phone and have this to share.... she did fly in to see her family as planned. Today she feels somewhat better, but still is a long way from total resolution of this stomach issue. (Only living on beef broth, crackers and water!!) She has been to tour, I mean see, the local ER and the MD there changed up some medications. Let's all pray that this change will be the hea...

DIGOXIN

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if you are taking, have taken or familiar with the drug Digoxin. I was put on it almost two years ago. (.25 mg) It has helped greatly with swelling, blacking out and dizziness. My new doctor doesn't like the drug and tried to get me off of it. I went to a lower dosage and within about two weeks my arms and legs were falling asleep and I black out. She put me back to the original dosage but doesn't like the drug. I have no idea why. I am 24 have had a PM for over...

Now You Know

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's such a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a l...

Member support request...

Hello to everyone,

Want to take a moment to ask for immediate prayer and support for Pookie. She continues to be pretty sick. I do not think that it is heart related. As I learn more details I'll pass them on.

Please just take a brief moment to pray for her.

Thanks,

PPPR - 3rd 5K post PM

PPPR (Post Pacemaker Personal Record)

I Ran the Challenge Cancer 5K this morning in 28:52 (9:18/mile pace) - a 4:24 total time improvement over my last 5K 9 weeks ago. I’m getting back to the times I was doing last year before my Jannuary Pacemaker implant so that is encouraging. It was a fun race! The cool Minnesota weather helped my time - about 49 degrees with a light rain.

Two week to Grandma’s Marathon! My goal in the Marathon is to finish under th...
