Just got my pm on Tuesday, am back to work today (sitting at the desk). Feeling pretty good, get a little dizzy now and then though. They set my pm at 60bpm up from 32! I am sore, but can deal with that ( sure like vicadon). How long does it take for the dizziness to get better?

Could someone please tell me what studies show about replacing a car battery? Is it safe for pacers to do themselves or should it be done otherwise?
Thanks

It appears that I'm in the wrong profession:
I'm going to start selling Toprol XL on the street.
"Get your Toprol here, ladies and gentleman! I've got the "real" thing. None of that hard to obtain- metoprolol crap.....just the good "gold in pill form" good stuff."
Should I carry anything else for ya'll. I'm here to serve you, in my sidewalk pharmacy.
Disclaimer:
For all you serious folks out there: Don't get the wrong idea. This is a joke....
Naps are Very Short Now....
I'm 4 wks post pm surgery, dual pacemaker for heart pauses.
My low is set for 60 BPM. I normally have very low blood pressure, esp while sleeping.
I notice when I do get tired and need a nap, I can only nap for 15 or 20 mins. Usually my naps would be at least 40 minutes.
Anyone else experience sleep being interupted at night or during naps since having a pm?
Thanks for all your support these past 4 weeks. I feel much better and not so worried any longer.

I have had a pacemaker for 5 years with no problems, but recently a close friend had a pacemaker implanted to control a low heart beat. During the procedure a wire meant for a blood vessel was implanted in his heart. He now faces a surgery to rectify the situation. What risks exist for my friend?

I thought some of you may enjoy the following as it discusses the devices and heart problems we discuss here daily. Part of it came from Medtronic (for some reason I'm on their mailing list - I;m kidding I asked to be put on the list) and the last two paragraphs are from another article on the subject of

Im 38 and had my first pm when I was 33 due to SVT. Had to ablations and then the pm. the battery was changed in December 08 and this past Monday they had to add a second lead to my bottom chamber. I was feeling wonderful when I went on Wednesday but on on Thursday morning I was waking up with a thumbing feeling at first and then pounding shock feelings around the mid to lower part of my large breast. I called the on call dr. and they sent me to the ER. A rep from the dr office came over a...

I'm having a defib/pacemaker combo installed this coming Tuesday and have two questions.
My Doctor who is also a golfer like me, told me he could put the device on my left side (I'm right swinging) up a little higher than normal so as not to interfere with my swing. Is that the best location, golfers?
Secondly, I lift weights in the gym. What is the safe healing time for working chest, shoulders, arms, even legs.
Also, and over my limit, any inside info of any kind I need to kno...

I had a pacemaker installed on valentines day. I would appreciate some advice on resuming my weekly bowling and bicycling. My instructions say 4 weeks after surgery, is that OK?

I've had my PM for about 2 months now and can't believe how good I feel. Two little things tough. 1. I have what seems to be an insatiable itch around the PM, is this common, does anyone else have this? 2. I still treat the area with some delicacy when I'm showering even though it's completely healed, is this something others do?
Minor problems I know but I just wondered if I was alone.

Cabbage Patch refered to a one lead being strickly a defibrillator type, I had a single lead ICD implanted in October of 2008 St Jude modle number 1207-36, my heart doctor ordered a PM but the EP decided I needed the defb/Pm which they say is both off a single lead, I am confused to no end as since the implant I have had nothing but problems, I had stent put in both right and left side, one in 2007 total blockage in right side, causing heart attack, and in 2008 the left side was nearly blocked,...

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
