CHILLY NIGHT

HI

I JUST JOINED 5 MINUTES AGO. HAD ICD INSTALLED LAST WEEK. THE DOC CKECK UP WENT WELL TODAY.

MY QUESTION IS "HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER AWAKEN WITH GOOSE BUMPS AND BEING CHILLED TO THE BONE?'' A COUPLE MONTHS AGO IN THE SUMMER (80 DEGREES OUT) THIS HAPPENED TO ME. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS AND I'M SLEEPING ON AN ELECTRIC BLANKET, WITH 3 QUILTS ON TOP OF ME.

LAST NIGHT WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED SINCE THE ICD INSTALATION LAST...

Happy Thanksgiving Ya'll

Just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Hope everyone arrives at their destination safely, and feels well to enjoy themselves with family and friends. I pray that everyone has some where to go and doesn't have to be alone. I thought one year I'd be alone on Thanksgiving until a friend from work invited me over to her house. What an extreme blessing that was, and an occasion I will never forget. As I look back, I think that turned out to be my best Thanksgiving ever. Oh, ho...

chat time

Maybe we should set up times to meet in chat. I go there and see that other people go, but we can't seem to meet up at the same time. Then again, if it weren't the day before Thanksgiving, I wouldn't be here at this time on any other Wednesday afternoon.

Shocking gadgets!

I never thought I would be so caught off guard that I would fall for such a silly trick, as I did.
Here is what happened.... I was at work and a patient's son who is 9 years old came in and asked if I would like a stick of gum... I was busy and didn't actually really look at the gum. Looked like Wrigleys gum to me. As I reached for a stick of the gum a shocked ran up my arm to my elbow! I screamed out and everyone but me thought it was funny! I quietly reminded them that I had a pacemaker...

Beautiful

Well I had my heart cath done this morning and the cardiologists said I had no blockages at all. She went on to say that I even didn't have the normal build up for my age. Her words were "Absolutley beautiful". I am sooooo happy with these results. I feel like I have been given a second chance on heart health. NO MORE GREASY FRIED FOODS FOR ME !
I have been praying to GOD for good results and he has answered my prayers. Just wanted to share my great news with you all. Have a great Thanksgi...

Anyway just to let his friends know that unfortunately he's had to spend a couple of days in hospital as he had a bad chest infection, but thankfully he is on the mend.

I thought it would be nice when he logged back in to see some get well wishes from his friends here to put a smile on his face and a warm glow in his heart ... xxx hope you're feel...

Hi

Hello everyone - I have not been on here for some time due to family commitments, son being poorly, brother in law being in hospital etc but things are on the mend now.
It is getting cold now here in England and I find my heart condition worse - does anyone else have the same problems.
I have had this 2nd pm now for nearly 4 years and am dreading the replacement part. I have not felt as good with this pacemaker as the 1st one. (different model) That was in situ from 1987 - 2004.

Firefighters with Pacemakers

Hello! I am 22 years old and have had a Pacemaker since I was 11. I was diagnosed a partial block in my hearts electrical system. I am currently trying to become a firefighter and was wondering if there are going to be any problems getting a job even though I am NOT pacemaker dependent.....Thanks!

AV Node ablation patients??

Hey there ya'll,
I know all about the anatomy of the heart, and the electrical system. I also know about AV Node ablations, but I'm still puzzled a bit.
I know when they ablate the AV Node the bottom chamber no longer recieves the electrical signal from the sinus node, thus causing 100% pacer dependency.
My question is how does this really help relieve symptoms of palpitations, flutter and a-fib?
I'm scared that I won't be able to do as much being 100% paced, or in the end I...

pneumonia/colonoscopy/sedation

Both my internal med doc and the gastrologist agree on proceeding with the colonoscopy as long as I no longer have fever or coughing. I'm glad since I'd already started preping for the procedure by coming off coumadin and giving myself lovenox shots since Saturday. I was going to have antibiotics for the colonoscopy anyway due to my endocarditis history - guess I got a head start - I was given Rocephin IV in the emergency room, and am taking Levaquin orally now. I'm still requesting no versed....

Ablation

Hello to all of my pacemaker pals!

I am going to the hospital on Tuesday morning for my complete sinus node ablation. This will be my 4th ablation to date, and hopefully the last.
I am excited to hopefully get my condition under control, but a little anxious at the same time. This procedure will leave me with no sinus activity, thus being dependant on my pacemaker.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers Tuesday morning!

Thanks,
Amanda

Colonoscopy with pneumonia?

Oh well, I don't know if I'll have that colonoscopy Wednesday or not. Saturday morning, I just couldn't get warm - eventually I realized I was experiencing a chill, which was followed by a fever. Next I started feeling heart palpitations, so I used my blood pressure monitor to check things out and my pulse shot up to 151. I know, for some of you that might not be a big deal, but my normal resting rate is 45-55. I don't usually get above 80 unless I'm exercising. (My pacemaker's lower rate is...
