Feel lousy

I had my pacemaker surgery last Wed. Apr. 7. When will I start feeling better? I have no energy and I just wonder if I should be feeling better than this. I don't go back to see my Dr. until Apr. 21st. When did any of you start to gain some energy?
Thanx, lakelady72

Fear of Failure

Hi Everyone,

I had my pacemaker 2 weeks ago and this is my second post! Sorry for posting again so soon, but I'm really struggling. After the procedure I was suffering from tachycardia (me, not the pacemaker, which is just a back-up for second degree block). But now I'm pretty sure I'm being paced most of the time because the drugs for my fast heart rate are dropping my heart rate to 60 and increasing my heart block, which is when the pacemaker kicks in.

I'm now terrified...

Let's all be nice

I truly love this forum and have found great support from many members here. What truly annoys me is getting notification that I have a response to my post and when I check to see what comment was made,I only read a negative comment about what someone else has posted. This does not help me or others in getting an answer to a question. If you have an opinion - fine , state it and move on.

So let's all be nice...please! Thank-you.

heart rate monitor

I thought I'd like to have a heart rate monitor for exercising and maybe I can see if that is a problem with shortness of breath with exercise. Does anyone know of a good one that would be fairly accurate. Most of my exercise is walking either treadmill or outside?

Checkup Report

Just had my first checkup since getting the new Medtronic Adapta L ADDRL 1. All went well. When the new pacer was programmed back in Jan the upper limit was set down to 130 by the computer based on my age. I talked it over with the Medtronic rep and saw no reason for not setting it back up to 150 like the old one. Even the cardiologist concurred so everything went smooth.

I continue to be impressed with Medtronic. The rep is willing to go over all my picky questions in detail in a fri...

PVC's

For some of you who have been concerned about having PVC's I thought this might help.

On my checkup today I show 248,508 PVC singles and 44,497 runs in the last 3 months. That works out to be about 2500 singles per day and 450 runs/day. Neither the Medtronics rep or the cardiologist were concerned about that level of them as long as they aren't causing my any problems.

This is important because the treatments for them such as meds or ablations have the potential of creating...

Rowing

I had a pacemaker installed on March 7, 2010... one month ago! I've been a rower for about 6 years, and want to continue again. The cardiologist says one more month...

Anyway, I've been exercising on the recumbent bicycle at 85% target heart rate (128). I notice that when I go into cool down, my heart will start jumping 150 and up.. and it takes several minutes for my heart rate to finally drop.

Anyone else have this experience?

Great Day!

I got my new pacemaker on the 5th of March this year and it was a rough go for me. I posted a few questions about this and that and I had some very mixed emotions about the answers I received.

Today, it has turned out that I just feel great! It doesn't matter to me anymore, because who really cares anyway! I sure don't! ha ha!

I have been outside doing the gardening, mostly clean-up, swept the garage, all that sand from the snow melting off my car and I have had a great...

Early checkup

I rang and got an early check up because I didnt feel right. I was breathless going up hills and my pulse didnt go up. I asked them if the rate response was turned on she looked and said no and it should have been. She is going to ask the Prof if she can turn the upper rate up to 150. I wish they had done that right I've been very worried why I felt so flat. Does the rate response make a big difference to how you feel? After she turned it on I got really exhausted. Is my heart not used to all th...

Ablation this week!

I'm re-scheduled for my second ablation to correct atrial flutter on Wednesday morning. I was originally scheduled a few weeks ago, but it was cancelled at the laat minute due to a virus outbreak at the hospital.

I'm being admitting into the hospital Monday afternoon. My doctor wants to run some tests to ensure I'm stable enough for the procedure. I should be home on Thursday or Friday and back to normal next week.

Like I've said before, I will be needing an extra dose o...

ICD shocked?

I am a new patient to an ICD, and I have read some horror stories out there, and was wondering if anyone can share with me, if they were shocked. I am told that it feels like a horse kicked you, not that one has ever kicked me.

But I am more worried, on where it will happen, and how the people around me will react, during a meeting or in church. Is it embarrassing? I am more worried about that.

TIA

Anyone else have this problem??

Hi,
I am new to this site and to pm's in general. I have only posted once before and some very nice people helped me out with answers to my questions. I had my pm implant on March 19 and although most of the soreness and pain I was experiencing due to a 2 1/2 hour problem getting the dual chamber wires in place was lessening I now find that even though I am sleeping on my back (probably also once in a while rolling over to my side) I wake up with my left shoulder quite sore - and sometime...
