Bad experiance during stress thellium test.

I just had this test today I had not had one for 5 years. Last time during the exercise part I walked the treadmill. This time because they thought the PM might interfere with the readings they decided to inject the chemical to increase heart rate.
I told them last time I had no problem with the treadmill but they insisted, I think mostly to save time. I told them i have VasoVagal Syncope and I thought it was a bad idea. But I was assured the side affects are minor at worst.

Can someone explain rate response

I've seen it in a number of posts where people said they have felt better after the rate response feature of their pm has been turned off. What is rate response for and who should or shouldn't have this feature turned on?

Trying to get as much info as possible before my next EP appointment on the 29th of this month, otherwise, I will be waiting another 6 months.

Thanks for any info you can provide. Thanks.

To Newbie

I had an ablation 3 years ago. It was totally severed and I am totally dependent on my pacemaker. I have had no afib or no pounding etc. At first it seemed to take a while to get it adjusted and I think psychologically it was worse than physically. I had an anxious first year but I was also getting off Adivan (never take it again) and sleeping pills (Ambien). That was a big problem in itself. Now I hardly think about it, and I feel much better. I am 75 years old but I believe a young 75....

Newbie Discouraged

Greetings, all! I spent a few hours yesterday perusing this forum and decided to join. I'm discouraged and confused.

I've had afib and tachycardia for most of the last 20 years. It came to a head with CHF in December 2005. I came out of the hospital with lots of drugs.

It came back with a vengeance in January 2006, and the VA did a radio frequency ablation on me. I felt great for about a month, and the afib/tachy came back again. I went back in for another ablation,...

Six Month Check/Questions ~ ~

I go for my first 6 month check up with my EP/cardio Dr. at his Heart Hospital office this Thursday, April 15 a.m. I learned from my 3 month check of my PM earlier I still have A-fib, but the tech said everything else was ok.

Are there any questions I should ask during this 6 month check? I know it will definitely be an in/out visit because his scheduler called me this a.m. to re-schedule my appointment earlier on Thursday so he can catch a flight to speak at a meeting. If I am hav...

Flying

Hey everyone!! so I have had some good luck in the past couple weeks and ended up winning a trip to london england for 5 days to see pearl jam play! I have not flown with my pacemaker yet, I am 8 months after implant and in the last few months my heart has been beating on its own almost 90% of the time!! I was just wondering if i had to be cautious of anything while flying? im 99.9% confident nothing is going to happen but ya know theres always that little nervousness. I am in good health and ha...

Oh...One more thing..

since they turned my sleep mode OFF in January - I went from 66% (using the pacemaker) to 83% - all upper lead. still less than 1% in ventricle.

I am now paced at 60 all day/all night. High rate is 140.

Guess having the sleep mode ON for nearly 5 yrs made a bit of a difference???

Pookie's EP Appointment...

Hi Everyone.

Well, the EP says I definitely have Junctional Rhythm. He also said it can be called Ectopic Atrial Beats. Why can't the doctors agree on just one title???? Anyone out there with JR...have you been told that too?

However, it has subsided a lot since I've changed to decaf coffee and have limited my M&M chocolate peanut binges. :)
I am also taking more Magnesium - in pill form...250 mgs per day as I was taking 100mgs. Don't know if that is a lot or a...

Still have exhaustion problems

Very very athletic age 67 - swimmer up to 7500 meters a week until sudden fatigue, dizziness curtailed everything3 months ago. Had panicked and futile visits to the ER corroborating that most medical people would rather see you in trauma or dead. Finally, after all the indifference and brutality, two months go by of total contradictory, rude confusion by medical people, and then after the stress / echo / 24 hour monitor, I had a PM inserted 6 days ago. Fatigue still a problem, esp. heavy legs. H...

HR monitor

I was wondering if folks out there are using heart rate monitors and what they found effective. I have afib, and tried the heart rate watch from Target, and that didn't work so well. I had to touch the watch to get me the heart rate, and I am wondering if there is anything out there that gets a good measurement for folks like me, and something that you can set an alarm.

Thanks for the info in advance,

Six months and going backwards

This is my first posting and is rather long winded. I apologize but I’m at a lost on what to do next. Ever since the installation of my pacemaker, it seems my health is deteriorating quickly.
I am 48 years old and have been athletic and very fit for the majority of my like. (Ideal body weight, no smoke, or drink) I have had yearly physicals, for the last 15 years and was told I was the picture of health. Until last September 2009 that is,
I passed out Sept. 2009 and was run through...

Crazy question

This may seem like a crazy question...and I am wanting to call my doc... but then maybe just wait it out till i see him at the end of the month...BUT how long are you suppose to wait before being intimate again??? I mean to be honest..i am NOT use to havinga racing pulse.. I suffered from Brady, HR in the teens to 30's resting..and while moving about i was lucky if i hit the 50s. So this whole racing HR creeps me out some...LOL. I am scared of my HR getting to fast or something and my PM doin...

Hip, Hip Away!

I'm going into hospital tomorrow to have a total hip replacement and would ask those of my friends who do so to pray for a successful outcome and ask for encouragement from all. It's to be done with an epidural and heavy sedation - the heavier the better as far as I'm concerned! However, my neighbour had hers done in September last year with the same anaesthetic and claims to have slept through it all. I expect to be in hospital for five days or so. In the meantime, I hope all of you behave your...

not sure what might be going on

I had a pacemaker put in 2007, and haven't really felt that great since.
I am hoping that someone might shed some light on this problem.
I went to the hospital on Thrus. and was feeling terrible. I really have been getting worse in the last month. I am super tired, I can hardly climb up the stairs, I don't smoke, I am not overweight, etc. The only thing that we have changed is, high speed inter net and the use of a router.I have a lot of static in my body. However, the hospital thin...
