OMG...the WRONG pacer!

Hi all! I went on March 27th for a new pacemaker finally after 11 years. I was so excited because the ones of today are so advanced over the ones 11 years ago... Well, my Dr. and I decided on a Medtronic, I did have a St. Jude "recalled" pacemaker so getting the Medtronic was exciting for me lol. Anyway, she was not doing surgery the day I was to get my new one so another Dr. did the surgery. Come to find out he put a Boston Scientific in instead of the Medtronic! I was livid to say the least. I...

Pookie Update

In my last post (in response to a post by Arabella, my dear friend) I explained why I went to the ER on Wednesday and what was done (and not done) and what was promised.

WELL...the pain down my arm got worse, the numbness spread into my entire right side of my face, so I ended back in the ER again yesterday!! This time is was from 8pm last night until 9am this morning. BUT...this time I got a doctor who did blood tests, which are all fine, and he did a CT scan of my head....which is...

Anyone being woke up with head rush things?

Hello,
Ever since an adenosine stress test after my pacemaker I have these strange electrical surge feelings and head rush things at night. Has anyone else had the same experience? The cardiologist says the pacemaker is fine and the adenosine goes out of you fast but I know what it feels like and it feels like the painful electical rush of the drug opening all the bloodvessels at once. I have not felt normal since the test Feb. 11th. If anyone else has had a similar experience I would l...

Dinner for Peter

I will be having dinner in memory of Peter on Wednesday. My husband and I are not people that go out much. So, I am going to set the table and make a nice dinner for us and set a place for all my pacemaker friends and Peter, Nina and daughter. Anyone who wants to join us is welcome. We will hold our glasses in a toast to a wonderful friend.

electric toothbrush

Hi All

Does anyone use an electric toothbrush? I was using one for a while and wondered why my heart always jumped about while brushing my teeth - I then realised it could be the toothbrush interfering with my pacer. I hate using a manual brush but am a bit concerned now, are electric toothbrushes safe to use?

thanks

Off Topic

This has been a sad week for pacemakerclub members in regard to losing members. I also experienced an unexpected loss when my husband of 44 years collapsed and suddenly died today. There are no words to describe the pain of this. I was the one with the heart problems...not him. I guess we never know what lies ahead for us.

Please hug those close to you and express your love for them. And don't take anything for granted!!!

Love you,
Suze

Should I Be Concerned?

I have been doing really well as far as my heart rate is concerned since my complete sinus node ablation in November. The ablation left me pacemaker dependant...I pace 100% in the atria.

The low setting on my pacer is 70 bpm. All through the night and this morning, my rate has been over 100 bmp. This has not happened since before my ablation. My resting rate is ALWAYS 70 because of the pacer!

I am having constant, dull chest pain. My heart beat feels very forceful, and I c...

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
