Stress....is what causes us problems

This is long but one of the best I have read.

STRESS

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.
"If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my righ t ar...

Stairs and how the beat goes on...

Hi guys,
Well, I have been poked, stuck and scanned. After I explained my what was happening the doc ordered some blood work, a CT scan and patted me on the shoulder. He checked my body pulses... all was good. No problems there. I will know what the CT scan shows in a day or two. He did explain what they were looking for and he really does not believe it is my heart. As soon as I know what the problem is I will be glad to share with you all. Thank you so much for your well wishes and concer...

Couple questions.......

Question one:
Pretty sure I'm the lone ranger out here on this one, but I'd thought it was worth a shot. Is there anyone out there in pacemaker land that plays violin? I'm practicing for an uncoming performance, and am having some issues. This is the first time I've actually played for long periods of time since my pacer implant. It'd be comforting to know that I'm not the only one out there, plus I've got some issues arising from playing that I've never had to deal with before until now. T...

Stairs Update, As the saga continues

Hi guys, my dr. office has tracked me down and set me an appt. It seems the cardiologist thinks that I may be developing another problem. :-O
I have not a clue as to what it could be and at this point I am not even going to try and guess. The appt. is for tomorrow at 1:15. I will take time from work to go.

I always find it rather odd that I leave the patients I care for to go see a dr. and become the patient. There I will be, dressed in my work scrubs... being cared for by med...

My Friends

Hello people,
I would like to say that I miss chatting with Peter N. and I am sure many others do as well. He is feeling rather poorly lately and I thought he might like to see a few greetins from all of us.

For anyone who has not had a chance to know Peter N. He is the Distinguished gentleman in the first few pages of the photo gallery. He is funny, smart and a wonderful friend to not just me but many other people here.

So... Peter N. we miss you and we know you are...

Stairs Update

Hi guys, especially Cabg Patch,
Well, spoke to the docs office, seems the dr took the day off. Now you tell me, who actually takes a Tuesday off???? uhmmmm Anyway, the PA says to me after I explained the problem with climbing stairs... "That my legs are like lead and I can't raise them!" She suggested I needed a stress test. I explained I just had a stress test the middle of Dec.! Did she really think I needed another one???? After another pause and being passed around to 3 different peo...

I'm Confused

Ok, I need some help! I am very confused as to what is going on with my heart, and I thought that maybe someone here could help me understand things a little better.

I had a sinus node ablation in November, which has left me completely dependant on my pacemaker.

I have never had problems with my ventricles or AV node...all of my problems stem from the atria and SA node. When I went in for a follow-up, my doctor found that I was having some episodes of non-sustained VT.

Okay

So.......
I'm trying my best to "log off" in my grand exit scene, and NOTHING. I'm stuck here, so I guess I might as well post something.
I was thinking here lately. I know, I know.....it's hurtin' my brain big time. Seems like pacer leads do some thinking of their own, because ever since I got this pacemaker my life sure has seemed like a dang soap opera.
Trace stop laughing, right this minute.
Anyone else have this problem. I don't know. It might be all the bouncing I've be...

hope everyone survived the game alright

Was that a game or what? The commercials, however, were a tad disappointing compared to previous years.
I was able to keep my snacking at bay, thank goodness. Still, I took an extra lasix this morning just for good measure. I feel like I've been drowning already, so I don't need to make things worse.
I hope ya'll ate some BIG TIME for me. LOL!

I'm telling ya, I can't get Harrison outta my mind. If intercepted and ran back 100 yards I'd need more than an oxygen mask on the...

Stairs and I don't mix well

Hi, I have just returned from our trip to Wash. D.C. where we have just spent the last few days. We did a lot of sightseeing and I was able to keep up most of the time. My PM kept me going except for one little problem. I cannot climb stairs! When did this occur I have to ask myself? I can walk fast, I can run for a bus, but I cannot climb stairs... at all. My legs quickly turn to lead. I can hardly lift them, I can't catch my breath and it scares me. I have never before this time had this prob...

Driving restrictions

Seriously, how many of ya'll abided by the doctor's advice of not driving after lead placement?
With my first lead placement, I didn't drive for 2 weeks. It was the longest, most agonizing 2 weeks of my life.
Anyways, last time my step mom drove me around. Reminded me of when I was a little kid waiting for my driver's license. (It wasn't a pleasant memory) Well, this next time I can't lean on her because she's got cancer.
I'm thinking that I'm going to drive when I get an additio...

Depression

There have been a few posts lately about “just” prolonging your life with an ICD or pacemaker and about wanting to just die.

I don’t know how the rest of you fine folks feel but isn’t the whole idea of modern medicine to improve the quality & quantity of our lives?

I thank the Lord everyday when I’m granted the privilege of waking up to a new day one more time!

We all are forced at points in our lives to face medical challenges that we must meet head-on. I belie...

Low Magnesium and potassium issues

Hey everyone hope it all goes well with you. I have another question for you all As I have posted in the past I got my PM in May 2007 and am on major medications in hopes of my to not pass out anymore however I have still pass out 5 out 7 days a week since.

So this last month though I have passed out every day but at lest 3-6 times a day, after a fall down 40 stairs and another fall shortly after over the hot pre heated oven door that was open I was brought to the ER the 2nd week of...
