Anyone have a Sorin Group Pacemaker?

I had a Sorin Group Pacemaker implanted June '09 and have had problems ever since. I asked for a St. Judes, and woke up with a Sorin, no one in my local area can work on it, the closest hospital to me, a heart hospital (I went to another hospital to have the pacemaker implanted) has never even heard of the Brand. I have had 2 different Reps check the device, and also nurses in the Doctors office have checked the unit, and after 6 months of problems now they say it was not programed right from...

Just Back From The Pacer Clinic

Hi all.

Well, it looks as though everything with the pacer is okay.

What I experienced on Saturday night was not recorded because when my heart decided to "act up" and go all weird on me, I did take my pulse and it was in the 80s; my pacer doesn't record anything unless it is above 150.

That event could have been a fluke and I really do think I over did it last week. However, I asked the cardiologist today to get me an appointment with my EP as soon as he cou...

itching and redness at site

Hi all! I would like to thank everyone for the great information that I have found at this site! I received my pacemaker (dual lead) on November 6th, 3 days after having an aortic valve replacement and aneursym repaired. I am now experiencing itching and redness at the site. It does not appear to be infected, just sort of inflamed. No drainage. Is this normal and has anyone else had this to happen?

Exercising???

Good Evening,

I was wondering how many of you work out on a regular basis...cardio and weights???

How long did it take before you were able to do that?

I have my CRT-D implanted on Dec 9th and am still aching and according to the ICD nurse should stay away from weights for at least another 4 weeks...cardio is ok.

Like alot of you, exercising was a huge part of my life, mainly for stress relief. However, I didn't work out for two months prior to the su...

I want to turn off my pacemaker.

Do I have the right as a human being to discontinue the use of my pacemaker. I don't want to wait for it to need to be replaced because I just (like an idiot) replaced it. I just want to know can the medcial community or the courts or anyone force me to continue to let this operate in my body if I want it turned off?

Too Good To Be True ??? !!! ???

Well, as most of you know, I had my first ever pacemaker adjustments with an EP this past Monday. I've had my pacer for 5 yrs and just shook my head that with all of my problems, that it took 5 yrs to finally get to see an EP. However, I did, and he changed some settings this past Monday.

I thought my world had changed for the better, I really did, but I was also cautiously optomistic.... because after the pm settings were adjusted, I skipped up all those stairs and truly felt my w...

From Kappa 701 DDDR to Adapta L ADDRL1

I had my PM replacement on Monday. The previous one was a Kappa 701 DDDR and I got an Adapta L ADDRL1. It seams they are very similar, but the dr told me that the new device would response faster and anticipates faster my needs.

That it would automatically adjust my heart rate to match my activity and also will reduce unnecessary right ventricle pacing.
He let the same settings I had on the kappa (60 bpm) and till now I feel no big changes, maybe the feeling is that this new one r...

Amitriptyline

Hi Everyone,

I had my PM fitted in October this year for bradycardia and missed beats, after numerous other problems I have now been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. My consultant has prescribed an initial 10mg dose of Amitriptyline onto 25mg if i'm ok with them. Has anyone taken this drug and had any problems with regards to PM?

Thanks

Karen

Irritation

This is new... experience would help here. Everything seems to be irritating the PM site. It was not like this until the last few days. As if it is rubbing against the skin from the inside. Anyone have this. I have had little or no pain/irritation at the site until now. It feels as though the skin is chaffed, but no outward irritation. Even clothing touching it irritates. I just started driving. Could it be the seatbelt going across the PM? I see the EP on Tues. I hope nothing is dislodged.

Nuts! am I?

Well, I'm 7 weeks into this new pacemaker. Came down with sick sinus syndrom. Went through the operation and time of resting and letting things heal up real well. Bad case of hair-growing-back ITCH. But that's about it. The cardiologist gave me a cardionet to wear at work to keep track of how I'm doing around machinery and working heavily. So far no glitches. They read my pacemaker a week ago and it's doing very well.
But I went for an ultrasound of my carroded artery and my aeorta...

Wow - and thanks

I recently posted re: concerns about my cardiologist's reccomendations. (Second Opinion Etiquette.) - Thanks so much for all the support. Wow. I really feel blessed to have access to a site where I can get such support. I am currently trying to get my primary care doc to send me to a local electrocardiologist (there's only one in this county - we live here for the weather and not much else- and the electrocardiologist won't see me without said referral ) and I have contacted a nearby attorney...

I don't post much, but I read them almost daily and I must thank everyone on this sight for getting me through this past year. Just knowing that you are all out there and reading everyones experiences has helped me deal with this.

I'm thankful for my little friend as a year ago I couldn't walk across the room without gasping for breath and now 2 days ago I walk...

Question about biventribular PM experience

I had bypass surgery in July of 2009. Since then I've had two episodes of CHF, complications from the surgery (phrenic nerve damage causing a paralysed diaphragm) and have an EF of 30. In November I had a cardiac cath and while I was in recovery a) my cardiologist came in and said he thought I should have a biventricular PM/ICD and b) the EP came in and said I only needed an ICD as I had no electrical or synchronization problems. My cardiologist said he would "talk to the EP". Now he's saying t...

Given a choice of which PM...

I am scheduled to receive a CRT-P (biventricular) PM in January to improve my LV function, and I asked my EP/Cardio if I had a choice of model and brand. He wrote he would be comfortable with Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St Jude, with St Jude having the advantage of daily wireless monitoring and data upload.

That's all he wrote, and I have been searching for which models he could have meant, and I was able to find only one St Jude, one Boston Sci. but no Medtronic CRT-P devices....
