Do good to be true!!!!

Hi all,

Following my post the otherday about taking Magnesium & Potassium to help with PVC's

I saw my GP on monday and asked his opinion on taking these suppliments, he said he had not heard anything about it, but he said it wouldn't hurt me to try.

So i have been taking 320mg of Magnesium Oxide since and my PVC's have dropped by more than half.

Is this to good to be true???? Would i get results this quick, Don't get me wrong i still feel them but not...

Atrial Fibrillation

I have had a pm now for three years. I got it due to a diagnosis of syncope but I like to call it 'fainting goat syndrome'. In periods of high stress, I checked out for a while. Now it seems I am having episodes of Atrial Fibrillation. I go in tomorrow for some tests. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Heart attacks

I was talking to my PCP today and was told that sometimes people with PMs are at a higher risk for heart attack due to blood clotting on the leads and traveling to the heart. I kinda thought that was just for the first few days after having it implanted. I have had several DVT's and a lung embolism and since I am already on coumadin I thought I was protected some what from clots. I am now 10 weeks post op. Also I have some terrible itching over the implant sight and it gets sore towards the...

More to deal with at Xmas

Hi, I’m just feeling a little sad and feeling sorry for myself but no one worry, I get over it. Had my PM implanted in Mar ’09, and there were some nasty complications. I expected to at least feel well afterward. If I just sit in a chair I feel fine. As soon as I move around get angina and tired. Sometimes just getting in bed at night was problem. I have griped at my Card.since I finally made it home. They made one adjustment to the PM and that was it. Upped the lasix and potass...

Uh Oh Spaghetti-oh

Alrighty, went to see the cardio last week...forced my way in. Everything looked good. Got copies of my xrays. Helps for me to have a diagram LOL.

Here's my question: Earlier I reached quickly as my son was falling down. Now where the pacer is, I feel something that wasn't there before. I can feel wires through the skin as if the wires leading out of the pacer shifted a little. According to my new "diagram" I'm feeling this exactly where the wires are. I'm 4 weeks post-op. Is this no...

Back in the Lab!

Anyone out there using Probiotics? I was using a 1/billion capsule and recently moved up to 10/billion. I am a Gold Card holder at GNC. I'm taking quite a few supplements along and around my meds. How about L-Carnitine?

"Thank You"

Thanks to everyone for all of your support during these past few years.

Yesterday was definitely a good day. I still have this smile, almost a smirk, across my face because I am happy that I feel a lot better but at the same time I knew I was right...that something was really wrong with my pacer, no one would believe me or listen to me, but FINALLY an EP did and I feel soooooooooo much better. Not 100%, but better; and I'll take that!!!!!!!

I guess I'll never understand "...

Someone...

Someone out there has what you have and is doing something that you won't!!

Read that over and over. I read that the other day and thought it may help some of the new people on this site. What is holding you back??? Do the thing that you won't but in the words of a prominent surgeon in Pittsburgh "Be sensible!"

Alcohol

Does anyone w/a PM ever get to have a drink? Is that possible. I know it depends on meds, doctors, etc., but in general would a glass of champange or something over the holdiays hurt me? I'm not a real drinker, but it would be nice for the holidays, just to feel like a normal person in my 30s.

Anna

PS - I got to take a long soak in a hot bath tonight for the first time since my PM. It was WONDERFUL!

South Africa here I come!

Hello, fellow pacers!

Five weeks from tomorrow I will be on a plane heading to SA for three weeks! I am so excited...and a little nervous since I haven't travelled solo internationally in almost 14 years!

I have seen other posts on here about pacers having a hard time getting traveler's insurance. I was able to get traveler's insurance that covers a slew of things...including my pre-existing condition/having a pm. I just had to purchase it within the two weeks after pu...

Return of symptoms

Well, over the last few days, I have again started getting light-headed and coming very close to passing out. I keep feeling myself going back into a-fib and have had a number of times where I have gone into a-fib for hours at a time (twice for around 9 hours). Guess I will need to see my doc soon.

Feeling alone

Hi,

I know I am not the only one here who has a ICD or pacemaker who is about 20 years old. It would be nice to talk to someone who does. If you are one of these people message me, please.

Hi. I don't even know what to title what happened to me today with my EP in the pacemaker clinic.

First, he came in saying he had some very good news: that my heart is NOT going below my lowest setting which is 60.

What had happened was: when I had the holter for 24hrs and made a quick visit to the PM clinic where they changed the PM from Bipolar to Unipolar, the tech turned down my pacer to see what my intrinsic rate was. I think I spelled that correctly. And I thin...

New member

Hi, I'm new to this club on behalf of my son. He was a preemie @ 31wks and has complete heart block along with other CHD.
He had his pacemaker implanted @ 6 days old. He has the smallest single chamber PM available. Today was his 3 month follow up, they reduced the amplitude from 4.5 to 2.5, I'm wondering if they will reduce this each time and if the only implication is less drain on the battery.(He's paced 100%).
Thanks,
Melanie

Murmurs and leads?

Anyone else pick up a murmur after your pacer was put in? Last week I was told I have a little 'squeak' of a murmur that wasn't there before. Nurse Practitioner told me nothing to worry about and there was no way the lead could be causing it. Further research on my part says that leads can definitely cause murmurs and in some cases can lead to more serious complications. Was wondering if anyone else had had, heard about or seen this type of issue?

Thanks again everyone.

Body heating up & dizziness!

Yesterday I was at the video store when out of nowhere I started getting dizzy and my neck started tingling it shot down my spine, my legs felt tingling and my arms and shoulders have this tingling burning feeling. I sometimes get a metalic taste in my mouth and sometimes into foam but not much. This just happened to me yesterday, I haven't had it in about two years. In the past it sometimes gets so bad that my whole body starts to heat up inside, I know for a fact this is not anxiety in any way...

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
