Bombing the moon

Anyone get up to watch the rocket hit the moon? Wasn't as spectacular as they predicted.

Actually, the scientific evidence was pretty good. They determined that the moon is indeed made of Swiss Cheese. Instead of pictures we needed audio: GLOOP

Ok, ok.. ha ha!

What I would like to ask is... How in the world did GMan know that I was still asleep? Ha Ha! Because he was right!

I hope you know GMan that I have my coffee in hand and I am finally coming to life.

I have had a headache most of the night and I'm not sure why. However now that I have my coffee things are looking much better.
Thanks for the wake up call...... :-)

feedback

I send a reading over the phone every three months but my doctor refuses to tell me the results. His hospital uses a no news is good news policy. He says they will only contact me if there are problems. This makes me feel uneasy. Any one out there had same experience?

I had my first PM w/ablation on 10/2; a Boston Scientific Altrua. I went back to the cardiologist's for the first time today 10/9, a week later for a regular appt. Someone at the cardiolgist's office put a device/wand on my PM & did something on their computer. They said they liked to keep everyone at the same number they had been before their PM implant for the first 3 months after the PM implant. Mine is at 80; whatever this means. After my asking her, she said I should be able to do my e...

stretching scars

Do anyone of ya'll know how to hinder/prevent a nice thin scar from stretching in width?

My first pacer scar started as a tiny, thin as a razor blade scar, but as I healed and moved around...the little razor thin scar widened.

Suggestions, or is the just the way it is......Just wondering.

Firearm Recoil

Hello everyone:

I have been wearing a PM now for 1-1/2 years, I often wonder of the effects the recoil from a large bore rifle (Sharps 45-110) would have on the leads placed in my heart. Will the jolt tear the leads from the walls of my heart. Yesterday I asked the PM Tech this question who replied I had nothing to worry about. He cautioned me though to never place the butt of the rifle on my left shoulder where the PM is planted.

Has anyone one heard of an event that woul...

too young to Pace?

I am 26, and have been recently become aware of my low heart rate. I have come close to collasping twice in the last two months due to have difficulting in breathing. not sure if related to my heart. I find when I am resting my breathing is very difficult and feel like i cant get enough oxygen, but when i am running breathing is easy.
I wake up unable to breath so I do press ups or go up and down stairs before trying to sleep again.

But I have to push myself to do this.

Have a few questions about the pacemaker results.

Hello,

My mother got her pacemaker a year ago and at the regular checkup the doctor didn't really put any effort in explaining what the values the pacemaker gave mean. I was wondering what does it mean if AP-VS percentage is high?

Pacemaker Check Today

Hi Everyone.

Well, I had my pacer checked today and as usual got the line "your pacemaker is working fine". However, I'm not feeling fine and both the tech & cardiologist noticed how awful I looked. I told them I've been experiencing shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, can't stop sleeping, palpitations, etc.

I'm due to have a stress test next week as my EP wants to see my "heart in action". Today the cardiologist tried to find a Holter for me, but could not. At least...

Had the PM implant on 10/2. I seem to be healing ok. Feet & ankles swollen yesterday and called my cardio. Dr. this a.m. & the nurse said to just put my feet up & stay away from salt. My first appt. w/my heart Dr. is day after tomorrow, Friday, October 9. Today an automated phone call from my cardio/EP Dr. office left a message on my answering machine to remind me of my appt. in the "nuclear study area" on Friday. I thought I was just going in for my first check-up since the PM/Ablation. Do...

Low Blood Pressure

I went yesterday to have my 50k mile check up on my pacemaker. The pm unit itself is just fine. I will need a new one in about a year.

However, while doing the testing my blood pressure dropped suddenly on the treadmill, 80/50. She asked if I was dizzy and I said "I am always dizzy" which I am requently. So they drew some blood and are going to get back with me.

Apparently after a discussion this may have been going on for several months. I have lost weight recently...

yAY!

Just returned from an interrogation where I'm very pleased to announce that BOTH my leads are still attached and everything is working properly.

My underlying "natural" rhythm is junctional. I no longer have any P waves, but I'm thankful for the atrial lead to pace me at 100%.

My rate response was adjusted slightly, and I'll see them again next month for another tweak.

I am absolutely DIGGIN' Medtronic's service, and my Adapta Dual Chamber Pacemaker.

I'm a 2 week Pm newbie & have meds questions

I've had my PM for about 2 1/2 weeks now and have also been on sotalol and digoxin for the same period of time. My PM was inserted to resolve my bradycardia and is set to about 70 bpm for my normal rest level. I have no upper limit set on my PM.

I've also been told I have a moderate to high probability of going into flutter again (which is what originally sent me to the hospital about 3 months ago -- the very start of my heart problems).

I am being treated medically for...

PACEMAKER USER AGAIN

Hi Everyone
I am new to the Pacemaker Club but not new to PM use. In 1996 I was diagnosed with Bradycardia BPM 36 with no heartbeat at all on 14 occasions in a 24 hour period. I received a dual lead Intermedics PM and it lasted from 1996 until April 2006 when the battery got low.
A replacement was put in and and the leads which were on recall failed to capture. Another PM was put in the other side with new leads and no capture after a few days of working.
The leads...

Settings needed adjustmants

Hi Pacer People,
I had my 6 month pacer check two weeks ago. Since I was feeling a little tired, the technician made a few changes. Over these past two weeks I was experiencing a fluttering and rapid heart rate. It is set at 60, but it would go from 60 to around 120-140 in an instant and then fall right back down about a minute later. It had me up most of the night and I felt horrible this morning, racing, flush, kinda scary. The doctor's office called in the technician to do an interroga...

Another Baby

My daughter is 17 months old. I was diagnosed with 3rd degree heart block. I have a dual lead pacemaker. I follow up with the electrphysiologist, not a cardiologist. Was told by hospital that my heart is actually fine....just electrical system is screwed up.

Can I have another baby? Sounds weird but do women with pacemakers have babies?

Curious...

Dodgy lead - help needed

My husband has had a pacemaker since 1992 for Sick Sinus syndrome, with 2 replacements. The leads are the originals: Pacesetter St Jude. He had previously (around 5 years ago) had a dx of A fib, for which he was given beta blockers and flecanaide. It later appeared that these symptoms had been being caused by a dodgy pacemaker and he has been meds and symptom free for 2 years since the insertion of his newest pacemaker.

Last week, however he was admitted to hospital with chest pai...

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
