I am on my 3rd pacemaker. I am dependent. I called Medtronic
to ask about getting into target shooting. She said it was fine. She thought I could even use a 39 caliber and maybe a 9mm.
I purchased a 22 caliber. My question is are there any of you that do hunt or shoot pistols for target practice. I still have my original leads. I haven' gone to the range as yet. My pm is in my right shoulder and I am left handed. I also was going to fire my 22 rifle.
Thanks for any help. -...

Hello All, It has been a very long time since i have been on this wonderful site. I have a kinda crazy question.... I have had 2 people tell me already that having a pacemaker and taking beta blockers causes CHF. What are your thoughts on this? Is it a bunch of bull or is there another thing to possibly worry about down the road? Just curious because i do take beta's and have a pacer, Not gonna let it worry me if it were true but just thought i would ask.....Thanks

Hey just checking in... it's been over 2 years since my PM... and I'm alive and doing fine.
Recently I had been concerned about my new job duties working in very close quarters with huge bays of marine batteries, as well as muchos electronic telecommunications equipment, but it was no prob! Those of you who gave me advice, ThankYou! You were right.
A week ago I had to dig 3 big holes to transplant cacti that were getting too big for their britches (holes about 2ft in diameter and 2...

Thank you all for your wonderful messages. My life has been pretty lonely and the joy you all brought to me saw tears well up in my eyes. I was truly touched, so was Brian who sends his thanks too.
So, here is the news. Brian saw the surgeon on Monday 7 October. The previous injection into the area in Brian's spine showed good results so they know where to operate. Surgery is planned for about third week in November. We have to go to the mainland from Tasmania. (Melbourne). At...

Need to ask some questions/hear from my PM Club friends (I miss SMITTY since he "SIGNED OFF"/LEFT the PM Club) ~ even though I know ALL of you can help me ~ I know there are A LOT more people with A LOT BIGGER problems, BUT, this is now my 4th day (Tues) since my very FIRST ablation/PM implant last Friday eve. ~ ANY/ALL slight aches/pains/pings/ pangs anywhere in my body right now ~ I am just "chalking" these up as being something of which my body dealt with BEFORE PM/just a normal day of "snap...

Thanks for your many comments/advice to my previous questions this morn (10/6) re: my new PM on 10/2. Thank you also to the ones who helped me out with making my "comments" more readable and understandable. My bad habits over many moons were to type in caps and do "squiggles ~ " of the words needing to be stressed/broken up and I will try to correct the bad habit I have. I can not promise I can keep my comments short though. LOL. Thanks to all of you. Now, I have a question to ask this eve...

Hi I am 27 and I have had my pacer for 3 years. Over the last year I have recieved some pretty serious "shocks" from around my left shoulder. Nothing shows up on my check-ups. I have been shocked so hard that it makes my shoulder and arm convulse enough that those around me notice. Has anyone else had this happen?

Does anyone have a child that has an ICD? My son has had his since he was 13 and has been shock 9 times. He is now 16 and just beginning to live again. I know that a pacemaker is nothing like a ICD so if anyone has one please let me know..

Today was the day. I got aggressive with exercise and decided to do an AM and PM routine. I used the old Charles Atlas course. Remember him? Sand kicked in his face!!! The exercises are called DYNAMIC TENSION and mimic the big cats at the zoo. Lots of push/pull stretching, pushups, etc. working one muscle against the other. I put some real snap in it and felt good about it.

PM/ICD friends, I need you folks to turn to now.Since I had a faulty lead extracted from the ventricle and implanted a new ICD (my 4th) 2 months ago, I don't feel the same anymore. It's really no fun. I can't do stuff I normally do and I've slowed down somewhat in all my activities; My condition is very complicated with VT and torsades de pointes and was shocked back to normal in July. I really need to ask my friends here what I can do to alleviate the pain. Am getting lots of pain from the wou...

Today I had another very short episode. Suddenly felt weak and shaky. Checked my pulse and it was very fast - maybe 120 or so. Sat down and belched a LOT and in 5 minutes or so it went to normal, paced at 70. No sign of what caused it unless it was the gas! I take sotolol, and a couple of other heart meds.
I still have the quivers when I relax or lie down. That will usually go away after a while, but sometimes keeps me awake. I've seen the "electrician" and the St Judes tech several times,...

Someone posted a picture of the pacemaker, leads, & right atrium, & right ventricle with the name Adam in the lower right corner. There are both red and blue "arteries" or veins ? Do the leads go thru the veins or arteries? My question is does the lead wire (I have a single lead to the right ventricle (3rd degree block) and the pacemaker is just about the same place as on the picture.) always go thru the area by the clavacle or shoulder blade to hold it in place and rubbing on the bone? I keep...

I was just getting ready to reply to a post here when it occurred to me that I am not in the specified age range!!! My question is; when did I get old? Every since I got my PM I feel as if I were 45! I feel great most of the time.
I just started working my own design business, I have traveled so much this year that I woke up the other day wondering where I was and I have almost forgotten that I even have a PM. :-)
I was reminded a few weeks ago because the battery is r...

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
