I had a pacemaker implanted 1 1/2 years ago. I was told shortly afterward that my pacemaker works 98% of the time. Has anyone else ever been told how much their's works. It is kind of a scary thought. If it quits working, so do I.

25 years old Pacemaker

Hello,

I got my pacemaker almost 19 days after my 25th birthday this year. I’m gettin it adjusted cuz now my heart rate is too fast. I was diagnosed with an av blockage. I had it since birth and it’s been undetected until then. Parents had no idea.

I’m glad there is a site where I can come and talk and help other people who have pacemakers and other devices. I hope we will grow stronger together.

Pulse and Anxiety/Depression

I had my pacemaker put in last week. I had a horrible surgery experience, but I'm starting to feel better. I notice that I do have a lot more energy and everyone tells me I have more color. I'm coping ok so far, it's starting to hit me that I'll have this in me forever. I'm 26 I was born with a complete heart block. I've always known that I would need a pacemaker but I was caught of guard when my doctor wanted to do it a week after my recent check-up appointment. I'm having a lot of anxiety. I...

need to find out about this new thing

I just had my PM installed 09/27/2010. the first attempt to install failed on left side and was successful on the right. My question is Whether i will eventually be able to sleep on my stomach. In the booklet it says to sleep on side or back. I sleep much sounder on my belly and have slept on my stomach after each of my 5 mitral valve replacements. The site of the implant is healing well however the site of the unsuccessful attempt is very sore and swollen still. I am still on pain meds a...

Tinnitis

I had a valve replacement and pacemaker installed in July of "09 and at the 3 month post surgery mark, an annoying ringing started in my ears. I have had hearing tests etc and there is no physical reason why this is happening. I feel like I am going crazy sometimes and don’t even know how to talk to people about it after they supported me throughout my heart issues. This is not painful, just makes me not be me, always feel like I have one nerve and my loved ones are on it?? Dr has per...

Hello everyone, I have had a ICD for a little over 4 years now. I haven't had any problems until last month. I was shocked 5 times in less than 24 hours. We are blaming it on my dr changing the dosage of one of my meds. Needless to say, it has scared me a lot and I have been having a lot of anxiety issues lately. Anyway, I found this website a few weeks ago and have been reading posts and it does help to listen and talk to others with similar problems.

Hello.....

Hello again. I'm really glad I found this online group but it seems that no one is on that much. I know some people are busy and people have lives outside of the forum but its seems kinda of.....inactive a lot of the day. It just seems hard to find people to talk to and keep in touch with them. Especially finding the younger crowd. I don't know about other people on here but it's tough being in the younger age bracket especially when you don't really know anyone else in it.
Also, has a...

Just down

Hi,
My name is Amelia, I am 43 and had my ICD implanted about a year ago. I am so glad to still be here but the don'ts have me down. Now there are so many no no's that life seems dull. I realize that in the big picture they seem small but sometimes the small things count. Does anyone else battle depression about this stuff or am I just crazy?

Reality

Hello again, I seem to be having a bit of an existential crisis. Is it just me or does anyone else feel that when they're sitting still or laying down it feels like you heart is stopped and you start thrashing about to elevate your heart rate and feel to make sure its there? Of course there is always the of chance that I'm just a little bit crazy but who knows.

Also still hoping to find more young people (ages 18-24) in MD with pacemakers. I can be lonely out there and meeting more...

Still alittle scared at times

Well, it is now going on 3 weeks (this Thurs) since my PM. Implanted due to low heart rate due to meds I was taking for an afib problem I had in June, other than that they happened a few times a year.

This was a very quick decision the nurse called me on Tues afternoon late and scheduled surgery on the following Thurs. So really no time to discuss anything. I haven't seen nor talked to the EP card since all this transpired. Even after the surgery...I don't see him until 11-11....

PM since 3 yrs old

I have had a PM since I was 3 years old, I am now 40 yrs old active Male, and will be getting my 10th PM this year. I was born with a hole in between the lower chambers of my heart. I had surgery for that and within weeks would need a temporary PM, then later I would need a permanent one. I grew up a somewhat normal young man, I have had PM's from all of the U.S. manufactures and have seen the best, worst, and funniest moments. I had an excellent doctor here in Georgia, he had an excellent s...

Need some support

Hi all. Just feeling a bit tearful, anxious, worried & stressed. I'm 11 weeks post ablation now for focal atrial tachycardia. Some of you have been following my story I know.

I've had terrible dizziness since the ablation & am having my Tilt Test & 24 hour ECG monitor this coming Thursday (14th Oct). The cardiac Dr's are trying to sort the dizziness out. It's lightheadedness & it's so bad now that I feel like I'm going to faint/collapse sometimes.

I ended up in tears at wor...
